Thanks, I hope someone else can assist.

You need to get global setting that match the 2160 P in your Nvidia control panel within Windows Control Panel.

I only have 1 monitor.

It best to set your power to maximize the power to the GPU and to use single monitor compatibility mode in order to assure that you don't have performance issues with the driver itself. If you are running to two monitors then obviously you would leave it in a multi-monitor set up

I'm a bit confused at this statement. How do I "maximise" the power? where do i do that?

The Nvidia control panel under global settings you need to disable adaptive power mode which is set by default by the Nvidia drivers. Same thing with the single monitor adaptive mode it is under global settings within the Nvidia control panel.

Nvidia has some very ignorant default settings for a desktop GPU.

Reyanrd, this is great info. I was always an ATI fan until last year and have had an nvidia since. I was not aware of that setting and when I get home this afternoon, the first thing I'm doing is testing those settings.

kudos to you bro!

Hi

I use a 4k monitor.

You need to use the driver that comes with the monitor. These monitors are still a bit exotic so software needs help recognizing it. Also your Windows resolution needs to be 4k or strange things happen.

You also need to use a display port connection. If you don't no 60hz.

Skyrim will recognize it mainly because it supports anything 16:9. I only had problems when I didn't run Windows at 4k.

Running in widowed mode will confirm your resolution. The widow will be a quarter of your screen. your ini needs to say iSize W = 3840, iSize H = 2140 to get that resolution.

With vanilla Skyrim using vsnc you will not see a frame rate difference with a i5/i7 & 980 ti setup. Both are well over 60.

With ENB I recommend dropping the resolution to 2650 X 1440. 60fps is doable with a 980 ti & looks better than 4k vanilla.

ok, so i figured out a small conflict here. the mod OneTweak was interfering with the whole fullescreen/windowed mode. I am now going to perform some tests after disabling this mod.

so after some testing, I found that OneTweak was forcing the game in to Full Screen mode at the highest res my monitor could handle. Disabling this allowed me to confirm that the resolution was killing my FPS. running the game at 1920x1080 as able to 60FPS with FULL Realvision. This is good news but I still cannot figure out why Vsync is still enabled. I cannot disable it for some reason no matter what I do.

EDIT: i was mistaken. vsync is off now. So OneTweak was my problem all along. it was messing with me big time. I have disabled it and seem to have all my control over my GPU and FPS back now. in 1920x1080 the game runs between 80 fps and 120fps with Realvision at full. at full 4K res, the game runs between 35-45fps. I guess its a trade off at such high res.
