Hey, I'm having the same problems too. I installed the game and when I click play, a window shows up saying, "Skyrim has stopped working." I'm upset myself and I just bought it today.

Hey, I got just the same problem. why is this happening? At this moment I got Windows 7 SP1 64-bit.

I just bought Skyrim over the internett. Which I downloaded with Steam. My computer was to weak when i first installed Skyrim. Skyrim won't launch because of Windows message "The program has stopped working".

And this happens just after pressing "Play" on the Skyrim menu.

So I bought some new parts way beyond Skyrim's recommended requriments. I still use the same harddrives with the new parts and with the same OS, but Skyrim still won't launch because of the Windows message.

I searched Google to find an answer.

I have until now tried nearly everything i could find, for instance; lowered the sound quality to 16-bit 44100 Hz (CD Quality),

uninstalled SP1(re-installed it since removing it didn't solve the problem for me), installed the latest Nvidia graphic drivers, and also "Verified the game cach" on Steam. But with no effect.

Right now I'm trying to re-install the game.

Any suggestions what I should do as my next move? Or will Skyrim stay unplayable untill I eventually re-install Windows on a clean HDD?
