Skyrim Crashing while Looting - and other

I keep getting a crash to the desktop, with no error, when looting. It happens when doing the quest for the dragonclaw that the theives took from the first town. I haven't played enough to see if it happens elsewhere, but with these particular enemies it happens every time (5 times and counting).

 

Also, has anyone had an issue with the sliders during character creation? It seems like the "hit box" is off a little or too small. Seems very "consolized".

 

Also, the UI itself seems completely meant to work with a gamepad and not the mouse, menu items are hit or miss when clicking with the mouse. Seems to be tied to the above problem of sliders. The method of browsing the skills is horrible in my opinion, but my friend seems to like it. I think it needs a scroll bar or buttons, having to click in blank space and hold to simply scroll is not intuitive for me.

 

Equiping things to your hands, whether it be magic or weapons, seems clunky. When I try and put something in my left hand I click and it goes in the right, I click again and it goes left and right, then I click again and it goes right, a fourth click will unequip it. I have to left click, right click, left click sometimes to get it in the left hand. Other times I can just right click and it works. It is hit or miss.

 

Textures look amazing, but the different between high and low is very... lacking, I am hoping for some ultra or hi-res textures.

 

Hopefully the mod community can fix the UI ;) hehe.

 

Even with these few minor problems I still love the game, it is pretty breath-taking, even if I can't loot.

 

Is there a direct path to submitting a bug to Bethesda or opening a support ticket?

Just had the same crash to desktop when I tried to loot something from a dead body. Havn't even finished the intro.

Yeah, I just went and started killing random things and looting. out of ten kills 2 crashes so far from looting.

Same issue here as well. I'm a thief by nature in the game; and the same with Oblivion and Morrowind. I NEED to loot, and the game keeps crashing when I try. A patch would be great. I've been waiting for this game too long to have to save every minute before I loot.

I'd like to know how i could make this glitch stop, currently whenever i try to press 'E' to loot someone my game crashes without a reason, please help!

Ah, I'm glad I'm not the only one. Opening chests/bodies causes a CTD, and if by some miracle it doesn't, then taking one of the items will. I think I'm at about an 70-80% looting crash rate.

 

I thought it might be some sort of mod causing this, but the only mods I have are perk/combat modifiers (mainly ACE and some Smithing ones), HD textures, some weapon/armor packs, and one or two new areas. Nothing that seems like it would affect looting bodies/chests. Nonetheless, I uninstalled the mods I had downloaded in the past couple days, because it started happening yesterday or the day before if I remember, but the problem persists, so I'm fairly certain this is not a mod conflict issue.

 

I really hope this can be fixed in some way, Skyrim is pretty much unplayable now because of it.

I'm in the same boat with the ctd'ing with no error message when I loot corpses.

The wierd thing is that I think I can loot humanoids with no abandon I can't loot animals. I deliberately quick saved before killing a group of wolves just after escaping helgen, proceeded to loot one; no problem, quick saved and went to loot another and it ctd's. For the life of me can't think why and what is causing this.

CTD while looting corpses is typically caused by SkyUI. Try removing containermenu.swf, inventorymenu.swf and bartermenu.swf from your DATA\INTERFACE folder. Edited January 1, 2013 by steve40

I know this is an old topic but I came seeking answers to this very same problem. Reading though this gave me some idea but these solutions have not solve my issue thus far. My issue did start after adding SkyUI mod but removed it shortly later and the files mentioned above are no longer yet this problem for me continues to persist.

 

The issues described above seems to happen very often yet for me this only happens a few times and then no more occurrences after that yet still tends to annoy me when exploring skyrim itself.

 

The three images I am posting here is my current mod loading list and some of these mods were adding after this issue had revealed itself. These mods were all of the ERSO ## mods, Spouse Store Mod, Undercity and SPERG mods.

 

 

 

 

 

I will be happy to hear any sources of assistance in this matter.

having the same exact problem only it seems to be only during rainstorms have no idea why it decides to act buggy there can anyone help ? does anyone even know if it is skyUI causing it?
