How to maximize the drawing distance?

I`ve been messing around with the SkyrimPrefs file, trying to accomplish only one thing.. Let`s say you`re approaching Whiterun (large area where you can see pretty far without obstacles), it doesn`t look visually pleasing when you see objects being drawn in all the time. Fences, rocks, etc, even the grass altough you can adjust it`s distance up to certain limit it seems.. I`ve tried maximizing everything but it seems like the game is loading new areas when I`m approaching them, I want to know how to adjust the area loading distance (if you can call it that, dunno..)

If you have an answer to my question, help is much appreciated. :)

I've been looking for this too. I've been able to boost tree/grass/shadow distances, but when it comes to rendering fences, sign posts, etc, there's still tons of popping. I'd love to know what settings increase the draw distance for general geometry.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it as well.

Yeah trees you can make visible even from the mountain tops another side of the whiterun area, but for example grass seems to have limited drawing distance no matter what you do in preference file, you can increase it ofc but not endlessly.

This really needs an answer. All the details just pop in when you get closer to them so it´s really pointless to climb the mountain in order to enjoy the view when it looks.. well.. crappy because of the lack of detail on everything else except mountains and sky.

Actually everything you look from a distance kind of lets you down because the game doesn`t draw in details unless you are near the whatever location we are talking about.

I imagine that the game prioritizes loads based on how much screen space will be affected by the load. And, if you want to improve on how that looks, I imagine you need to make loading happen faster.

If you have enough memory, you might be able to tune SuperFetch to preload things for you. (I am not sure how you would do this, except by playing the game a lot, and also going off and letting your computer hum when it has the disk running when you are not doing anything.)

Or, more directly, you might be able to move the data files into ramdisk and then have the ramdisk replace your data directory (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc938934.aspx), but I am not sure how that would interact with steam patches.

Or, if you do not have enough ram, maybe you could get some improvement from ReadyBoost.

Or... maybe I am completely wrong about what you are seeing...

After a certain distance things like fences, sign posts, even huts/houses aren't rendered. At a certain point, it's just empty landscape. What we're looking for is the ini setting that controls the render distance for world objects. I've toyed around with most of the settings in the config file, but I can't seem to find a way to increase the draw distance.

FYI loading speed has nothing to do with it. I have a shortstroked RAID-0 w/ 1.5GB GPU RAM and 8GB system RAM, and Skyrim only uses about 1GB of system RAM. Furthermore, you can stand still and wait for everything to load into the scene (only takes a few seconds after loading the grid), and there is a clear distance after which nothing but trees and landscapes (not objects like fences and signposts) are rendered.

Exactly, I have tried adding my own commans into the ini file, googling about it etc etc no help. I really hope there is a solution for this because for the time being I can`t fully enjoy this game because only places where this issue is not jumping into my face are the dungeons.

Hmm is there any tweaks for 6 core cpus and Higher, loading seems seamless, but at times you do notice something in the background??

Skyrim has been developed to run on the x360

the PC version is a port, it doesnt use more than 2 cores

Amount of processor cores has nothing to do with this thread. :) Please keep the discussion in topic..
