Cashews
A few weeks ago, RL allowed me to get back to an old favorite. While I had played Oblivion over a year ago, I had never used any mods for it before and I decided to give some of them a shot this time. For the last two weeks I did what I had to do, reading FAQs and guides, browsing forums, lists and websites, trying to wrap my head around and understand what I could. Now while I still don't know the difference between an .esm and an .esp file, I get the basics and I can use tools like OBSE and OBMM. This afternoon, I downloaded a bunch of mods, did some tests and came up with a basic install. Now my goal is to install FCOM (with OOO, Fran, MMM and Warcry) but I have some more reading to do before I'm ready for that. In the meantime, I'd like for you folk to let me know if I missed something, a gem or a must have I didn't discover while browsing. Here's what I have right now: - Oblivion- Knights of the Nine- Shivering Isles- Bag of Holding- BTMod- Clocks of Cyrodiil- Deadly Reflex- Denock Arrow- Female Eye Candy- Immersive Interface- LowPoly Grass- Magicka Regen- Natural Environments- Natural Interiors- Oblivion Gate Map Marker Remover- Official Oblivion/SI Patch- Realistic Fatigue- Realistic Leveling- Reneer's Guard Overhaul- Stealth Overhaul- Streamline- Unofficial Oblivion Patch- Unofficial SI Patch- Younger Hotter NPCs Now I'm thinking that I need a 'sound' mod of some sort and something about 'magicka'. Maybe some extra 'eye-candy' mods and possibly a few quest mods. I don't really want to add new items and monsters, as I'll have plenty when I finally understand how to install FCOM. Anyway... let me know if you think of anything. As a side note, I'm a little worried about mod conflicts. I followed Dev/Akm load order as best I could, but the conflict detector utility from OBMM identified quite a few conflicts. Is this fonction reliable? And if it is, what can I do about it? Abramul
As for magic mods, it seems that people like Midas Magic Spells of Aurum. The most important difference between .ESPs and .ESMs is probably the fact that .ESPs cannot use objects defined in other .ESPs.
Cashews
Thank you for your answer Abramul. As for Midas Magic Spells of Aurum, my understanding was that there was a few problems with it and FCOM. Guess I'll have to do some extra research for that one. I must admit that it looks like to be one of the best magicka mod available right now. Anyway... I was finally able to install FCOM. It took an entire day off and a few evenings since, but I was able to pull it off and even add quite a few mods to my install. Hopefully, its going to be pretty much bugs free. Since I'd like to try a ranger-type character next, something I never tried before, I was wondering if there was any animal companion mod out there. Anybody knows?
