brandon2u
bump and update: found setting 'ultra' in video option helped a lot...but, it did not completely resolve issue and it dropped FPS a lot. i finally decided to disable shadows using the following commands: IF you go into your SkyrimPrefs.ini in my documents and make the following changes, it disables all shadows. fShadowDistance=0.0000fInteriorShadowDistance=0.0000fShadowLODStartFade=0.0000 credit to original poster "yourmother" (yes, that is the real name lol) thankfully this makes only a minimal change to quality due only characters are shadowed....it also makes some things look better 'no over the top bloom or hdr' and it increase FPS... win/win :) yes, for realism i would prefer to get shadows back.. hopefully after next patch. brandon2u
i can honestly say after playing a while the game is better without the above shadow settings (most shadows are still on and cannot be disabled)... runs considerably smoother! a noticeable increase in FPS! and most items look better!(sorry, bethesda make THE best game but they still need work with shadowing) also... highly recommend triple buffered vsync: 1. enable triple buffering in either nvidia control panel or ati control center.2. open 'skyrimpref.ini' with notepad and change imouseacceleration' to '0'.3. launch game and increase 'look sensitivity' in gameplay settings. this combined with 'shadows off' provides a VERY smooth game experience (completely stutter free). brandon2u
o.k.... have had some PM's and many response on other forums so i am updating all threads: yes, the game has some frustrating flaws :brokencomputer: (would not expect anything else from Bethesda lol) still, it is a GREAT game! epic landscape, excellent voice acting, great story... all the 'goodness' you would expect from Bethesda! trust me when i say turning off shadows is worth the 1 minutes of effort! edit your SkyrimPrefs.ini as i stated above... you will not regret it! cheers :foodndrink:
