Skyrim launcher looping?

Thanks for the responses, running as admin didn´t work for me either. I did however find out what to do and it worked for me:

In the Libary in Steam, rightclick on Skyrim -> select properties -> select the Local Files tab -> Click Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

It found some incomplete/corrupted files that it replaced, and now the game works http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif

Good luck.

I found a fix for this after trying for a few damn hours.

Go to the steam install folder > steam > steamapps > common > skyrim. Right click on the skyrim launcher and properties and check run as admin, save it and then double click the launcher. The Skyrim menu should pop up and let you play. It worked for me thank god.

Somehow I messed up my install and was stuck in this loop too. Did all kinds of stupid stuff to try and fix it, wasting hours and finally found this and within minutes the game was working again... Thanks.

I recently had to "refresh my pc" due to an unknown problem, so I lost all my game installs. On reinstalling everything, I'm having this exact problem with Skyrim - and none of the fixes here have worked. I've tried running as admin, I've tried compatibility modes, I've reinstalled, I've verified the integrity of the game cache, I've confirmed that DirectX and my graphics drivers are all up to date. I'm guessing I didn't have this problem before (this is a fairly new computer, running Windows 8.1) because I directly copied my Skyrim setup from my old hard drive, but I don't know. What I do know is that I'm frustrated, I've been messing with this all day.

It does look like perhaps the DirectX 9 files are at fault; I got Skyrim to launch properly, and then reinstalled SKSE as well as RCRN, and suddenly it was crashing again. RCRN's support documentation mentions DirectX 9 as well, so I'll sort that out when I'm more awake. Thanks for your help!

Hello guys,

I hope someone out there are able to help me out, I´m getting really frustrated here..

I bought a hard copy of Skyrim, installed it and updated it (and steam) and now when I try to run the game, nothing happens: the launcher just takes me straight back to the launcher menu. When I press play again, same deal.

I tried rebooting the computer and steam, changed my speaker settings in the control panel, setting the graphics to low aswell as windowed mode, and also tried searching the web for an answer, without luck. My computer should be able to run the game without any problems, and I´ve never had a game-problem like this one before.

And yes, I´m an idiot when it comes to computers, so please be gentle if I completely missed doing something obvious for the game to work.. http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/wink.gif

Please help me *starts kicking stuff out of frustration*

What do you mean by "steam install folder?" This is probably a really dumb question; please forgive me, as I'm terrible with technology.

So this was a pain to fix. However I fixed it, what I had to do was change my permissions to admin, and had to change the resolution, than I had to sign off. (MAKE SURE TO SIGN OFF NOT LOG OFF) because it will refresh the desktop. I also recycled the launcher and went to skyrim>properties>local files>verify cache, i did all these steps before I logged off and it worked. Have fun learning!

I've found that running both "TESV.exe" and "SkyrimLauncher.exe" both as admin works the best (for me at least)

Also running it in Windows 7 modes on my Windos 10 PC, since it seems to crash a lot otherwise.
