FCOM, crashes on using torches

I installed FCOM, and little else. The game starts properly, but it crashes to desktop often when I try to use a torch. Funnily it does not happen always, but it's fairly regular.

 

Edit: it happens always if I try to get a torch while welding a two handed weapon; seldom the other way around.

 

 

I did use BOSS to sort, Tes4Edit to clean, and wrye bash to make the patch. I fairly sure I am not missing anything obvious, what can I try? Any suggestion a part of giving up to FCOM?
