It was only a demo... on a small TV, with daylight streaming through the window, and the sound of my sisters stereo echoing through the house. So it's no wonder I wasn't scared :)

Well, THAT makes a difference. :P

Try playing Doom 3 for the first time at night, with no light....

.... don't repeat my mistake! :ninja:

I just recently got F.E.A.R. That's a pretty good game. And it's got moments of sweet, sweet trama inducing goodness.

I haven't played F.E.A.R. personally, but my friends say it is scary. Bioshock had a few good moments, though. The way some of the Big Daddies appeared was startling, if not truly scary.

I don't know about Bioshock. It's a really fun game but nothing in it struck me as horror related(I still love the game to death). F.E.A.R. is meant to be scary and does a good job at it. Though my Vista ruins the moments with it's stupid problems, so I play it on the XP.

Yeah. F.E.A.R. is probably the only game that scared me in the day time...

but I bet you I can top that. Ready for it? The scariest game I have ever played would probably have to be...

SILENT HILL!!! :ninja:

Or "Clock Tower"...

RE: not really scary, as has been said it's more shock-scares, like Friday the 13th, where you know somethings gonna happen so it's more the suspense building up that scares you.

Silent Hill: also not particularly "scary" I would catagorize it as "hellishly freaky", the game tries to show you a little weirdness, and then go, "oh yeah? you think that was weird? check out THIS!!" It's just a lot of stuff that you can't even believe that you're seeing. Then it goes further, and further, until you really think you'll lose your mind.

Fatal Frame: this is where fear comes into play. You don't get guns, you don't even get a stick ala Silent Hill, no, you get stuck in a creepy old, truly dark, house with nothing but an enchanted camera to fend off pissed ghosts. It's funny that if you try to tell someone about this horrifically scary game you played, where you're a girl in a house who takes pictures of ghosts, they will probably laugh in your face. But, this game seriously, blows at least the other two away in sheer terror.

If they do laugh in your face, let them borrow the game, tell them to play it late at night.... then hide in their closet, and as they are walking around in the dark, jump out and grab 'em! See if they laugh about it then! OK seriously don't do that.

Man, I see you guys all talking about these F*cking scary games and I go "Damn, I really play these games." But I cant just myself to play these games. The only horror game I played and finished was Doom 3 and it really didnt scare me that much (only when an Imp or Zombie is RIGHT next to me). I actually just laugh as i blew those fudges to bits. That reply about Cthulhu really made me interested in it and Lovecraft. I saw the some youtube videos, it only makes me hate myself only more about me being such a chicken.
