@Nevaehy

I don't think reinstalling will help. For the mod, only the contents of the "bin" folder should be relevant and not other game resources.

Can you download Process Explorer, launch its procexp64.exe, click View -> Lower Pane View -> DLLs, launch witcher3.exe from Windows Explorer, then search for the witcher3.exe process in Process Explorer and select it, and finally choose File -> Save in Process Explorer and save the text file? Then send me the resulting text file (feel free to PM it as it may contain personal information).

And these questions are still open:

What antivirus do you have? Can you try launching it with your antivirus disabled? Antivirus programs may have very nasty and deep integrations with the OS and the way applications are launched.

Also, disable any other programs that modify program behavior, such as programs that add overlays (Steam/Galaxy overlay, FPS counters, programs that add additional shaders etc.).

@pcworldSW done and sent to PM.

Regarding antivirus I have only Windows innate Firewall. Previously, when I was testing, I've disabled Steam and other possible launchers/overlays.

P.S. the .txt file with witcher3 process that I've sent to PM was via desktop witcher icon and synced with Steam (just as I regularly launch this game)

@Nevaehy

Thanks for sending me the bin folder.

I have extracted it, and both in the "x64" and "x64_dx12" folders, once I double-click witcher3.exe, it greets me with this dialog:

I don't know what the difference is between our systems then.

Which exact Windows version do you use? (Open "About your PC" and then press "Copy" in the section "Windows specifications".)

Let me know if that helps, and if so which specific step helped.

For people where the mod does not work on Witcher 3 v4.0.0, did/does it work for you on v1.32 (and if so, was it the v0.1 or v1.0-rc1 version of my mod)?

Also if there is anyone for whom the v1.0-rc1 version of my mod works, let me know (I have only gotten responses from people where it doesn't work so far).

I believe I was using v0.1 when it worked with Witcher 3 v1.32.

Launching from the Steam shortcut on desktop or through Steam launches the GOG launcher, and launching directly from bin/x64 or bin/x64-dx12 launches directly to the game, but none of those produce the dialogue box with rc1-debug.

my Windows specs are:

Edition Windows 10 Home

Version 22H2
Installed on ‎3/‎31/‎2021
OS build 19045.2486
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0
"programs that modify program behavior, such as programs that add overlays" that I have installed include:

Rainmeter

DisplayFusion

Nvidia GeForce Experience

f.lux

My only antivirus is the one baked into Win10.

I am PMing you the .txt file from Process Explorer and my bin folder.

I killed Rainmeter, DisplayFusion, f.lux, and GeForce Experience (holy s***, trying to get GeForce Experience to die felt like playing whack-a-mole with a virus. I had to change a file name to stop it from re-opening itself) and nothing is different. No dialogue box, and no in-game functionality.

Attached photo is just to confirm proper installation.

Thanks for the responses.

I can reproduce the issue in a Windows 10 VM, so I do not need further feedback. I have no idea why it works on my PC but nowhere else though (for some reason the DllMain of my dll is not called).

I will look into it, but might take a few weeks as I'm currently rather busy.

It's crazy that you're even willing to put this much effort into such a niche mod (though it's surprising that there aren't more threads about this limitation). Thanks for all the work you've done

Hi pcworldSW.

It doesn't work in the new generation patch 4.02.

I reinstall from scratch via Epic.

I also do not get any dialogue box and I cannot place >10 markers on the map.

Hi pcworldSW,

I know a few months passed and there was not much happening here, but still having hope (sure not only me) that this mod can work fine under new versions of Witcher 3.

I made another attempt just to be sure for new version 4.04 but unfortunately without success.

Would be extremely grateful if you would find some time to fix this mod, fingers crossed :-)
