Realistic Map/Travelling/Compass

Sooo I really(!) love the challenge of navigating in open world games that dont give you a gps(such as arma2 and modded Oblivion) so I would really(!) love a mod that removes the player marker on the map (while also switching it with a common map), the gps-like compass thingy (while keeping the compass itself) and also fast travelling.

I know that this is probably not shared by many others but I just find exploring in games such as these a lot more fun if there is some challenge involved.

Maybe someone who knows how to mod will have the same taste as I do :)

I agree completely! Mods like this made Oblivion, F3 and FNV sooo much better. The compass markers really ruin the sense of exploration. It far more satisfying to be strolling through a forest and just come across a massive set of ruins. When you have a marker telling you exactly where it is there is no surprise :P

In preparation for the new Assassin's Creed game, I started playing through the previous ones again, but this time I removed all the hud elements I didn't need, like the GPS. Suddenly, the game was a lot more fun because I learned the cities. I expect the same would occur if I did this in Skyrim, though I do learn the areas better than in AC games because they are more sparse.

I expect that I would prefer the game without the compass at the top of the screen, and a drawn map that ACTUALLY SHOWED ROADS. The compass serves three main purposes, showing you where the nearby towns and objectives are (I'd prefer to find them myself), showing you where the nearby enemies are (Which is far too easy to exploit for stealth, shoot giant, run behind large stump, keep the giant on the other side), and showing the cooldown on your shouts. I rarely use shouts myself, and even if I did I wouldn't mind having a different indicator on screen for their cooldowns.
