asterix2112
Sorry for probably a dumb question, but a lot of mods say to add/replace textures in the c:\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data\textures directory. But under data I only have Interfact, Strings and Video. I know I have to have textures somewhere??? I did a regular install, and am showing hidden files... Where are they? Thanks, Asterix
smuppet
If it's not there just add it in yourself in the data folder
Aluminumfoil
Skyrim stores its textures in compressed form in a .bsa archive in the Data folder of your install directory. If there are files in the appropriate locations within Data, it will load those first and ignore those files from the .bsa. Most modded textures will come prepackaged either in a Data folder with the appropriate folder hierarchy, or in a Textures folder with the appropriate hierarchy. Just drag and drop the folder into your install directory (if its highest level is Data) or your Data folder (if its highest level is Textures). When prompted by windows, accept the folder merge. To mod textures yourself, you will first need to extract the files from the .bsa. The .bsa extractor packaged with New Vegas Mod Manager appears to work with Skyrim's .bsa's, or you could look for another extractor.

They did not even bother to update the compression. Great news about the old tools still working!
