Kerghan
...and I don't have anywhere safe to put them because I can't afford a house yet. I don't want to drop them because I'm pretty sure they'll be useful for crafting later on. WHAT DO I DO? Where is the 5 dollar horse inventory DLC when you need it. Denial77
Get a companion, make them carry it. I did this with Lidya (or whatever her name was) until she got teamed up on by some wolves and died. Then save up some money and buy a house before you're put in the situation I was - a lot of heavy gear, a dead companion and the middle of nowhere. Start saving for a house, early.I'm currently in the same situation having just taken down my fourth dragon and I'm now about 1000 gold of being able to afford my first house. It'll be necessary. Companions are risky in case, as in the above situation, they die.
Kerghan
So what would happen if I dumped them in some random chest or sack and came back for them later? I remember in Oblivion you could only do this in certain chests, or your stuff would disappear after a while. However, in Fallout 3, I think it was safe to dump your stuff in any container. Which system does Skyrim use?
RozenDoll
Nope, Fallout 3 nor New Vegas where the same as Oblivion. Not all containers were safe, most were resetting too. As for my story, i have the same problem with the heavy bones. Can't afford a house yet. Would love to get a tip on a safe container.

DyingAtheist
If you join the Companions there's chests in their building that are supposedly safe for storage.

I saved before doing so just in case and it worked out well for me.
Martin126X
I just dumped it on the floor outside the inn. Now I kinda feel that it was a bad idea....

Which system does Skyrim use?Seeing as how dungeons don't respawn for a couple of hundred hours or so, I'd guess you'd be pretty safe. That would be reflected in chests, right? I don't know though, so maybe you should test it out. Are the dragon bones and scales good for making anything? As far as I can see, they're used for making Dragon Amour, which you need to have every perk in the smithing skill to unlock - Light and Heavy.
