atrayan
Updating drivers didn't work (I didn't try the third-party one), but the .ini tweaks fixed it. thanks a ton. Oh, and i'm running it on an HP laptop with switchable graphics (mobility radeon 5650 and intel)

Pigzplop
I had this problem when playing Skyrim it was really annoying but my friend told me to make a new account on my laptop which i did and there were no problems with the game at all :)
jdconn01
I'm glad to have found this from searching keywords "Skyrim foliage warp" on Google. Thanks for the info, I was able to fix the tree warping, but couldn't find the line called "bAllowCreateGrass=1" so I'm still getting warped textures from the bushes. I'm using a HP laptop with ATI switchable graphics (CCC verison 11.11).
Jaguarnaut
ATI problems? any Nvidia users getting this?
jdconn01
OK solved the other problem fixing the warped bushes, since I couldn't find the line " bAllowCreateGrass=1" in my SkyrimPrefs.ini. Messed around with values in the [Grass] section and found changing line "fGrassStartFadeDistance=" to 0.0000 resolved the warped bushes. Now I'm able to enjoy the game without crazy deformed trees and bushes!
premejo
Great Post Oopsie! You fix has seemed to help my issues. I am currently using a HP laptop (dv7-4280us) with Radeon HD 6550 switchable graphics card. To summarize for other readers, please do the following to remove the glitched/stretched grass and tree textures: Access your Documents\My Games\Skyrim folder where you will find the Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini. Make the following changes: Skyrim.ini---------------------------------[Grass]bAllowCreateGrass=0 SkyrimPrefs.ini---------------------------------[TerrainManager]fTreeLoadDistance=0.0000 Note: this will simply remove the items as you might expect (there will still be modeled trees). Not sure exactly if there is a way to preserve the sprite grass/tree elements of the game. If you think that they are worth it, you may want to play around with the INI files some more. But for me, removing them was the best quick solution after hours of OK gameplay tolerating these graphical nuisances.
jjbento3
I have the same wierd, stretchy shapes on my HP dv7 laptop, very frustrating. I have tried both the fixes suggested by Oopsie but to no effect. I have heard updating drivers might help but when I go to ATI website I get a message that my system in incompatible (or something like that). Here are my specs, I think I should be able to run Skyrim decently. Thanks for any additional help
