Laptop or Desktop

My current computer is weakening and I want a newer one, but the thing is, I go to college and dorm there. Not that I don't mind using a desktop, its just that using one while dorming is a little odd and i feel indifferent, and idk if a class would Require a moblile PC. Regardless, I want a computer that can run skyrim well(Not MAXX, but pretty good and smooth). If I take the Desktop route, itll be easier for me to plan out and itll benefit me, but idk if till mess with my college work or if my parents would approve of me using that instead of a laptop.

If I choose the laptop route, then it may be more college friendly, but I won't be able to play skyrim. I don't want to have to wait a long as time just to play it, aint fair, so im just wondering what I should do. Hell, I could just build a DT and buy a cheap LT but idk if my parents would find that beneficial, even though I'm older and have more authority over my decisions.

Any suggestions would be good, thanks in advance if you post.
