Dark brotherhood "Shrouded hood" no mask bug

Just wanted to clear a few things up about the different sets of shrouded armor. I believe there a four sets total.

 

Shrouded armor (standard)

Shrouded robes

Worn shrouded armor

Ancient shrouded armor

 

There is no standard shrouded cowl with a mask. There is only the original and maskless.

The shrouded hood goes with the shrouded robes set, like a mages hood and does not feature a masked version.

 

Both the worn shrouded cowl and ancient shrouded cowl feature masks when viewed in the menu, but for me, do not show up when I equip them on my male wood elf, or an armor display mannequin, and it also does not appear when given to a male follower that shows the item being equipped.

 

I believe the female only theory is pretty solid as I have yet to see any male npc's with shrouded masks equiped.

Is there supposed to be a mask on the shrowded hood? I don't seem to have the shrowded cowl - only the maskless one - but I do have the shrowded hood. It doesn't have a mask on my female khajiit character.

The shrouded hood does not have a mask and functions like a standard mage's hood, and goes with the shrouded robes set. There are two other shrouded cowl versions that feature a mask.

Who needs those when you pickpocketed the three victims' execution hood when facing the trial for DB acceptance?

 

Or am I the only one who planned ahead?
