Oblivion just started lagging for no reason

Recommended Posts

Ok so pretty much I'm a youtuber and I was trying to record oblivion but about 2 hours before i started the recording my oblivion started being really laggy usually in the imperial city market district on High texture size i get like 30-40 fps but now I'm getting 20-27 fps on medium texture size.

So my specs are: here

and i have the following mods installed

Knights Of The Nine Revelations

The lost spires

Cheydinhall Pet Shop

Reznod Mannequins

I'm also using a laptop (if that changes anything)

Please help Oblivion is my favourite game of all time

Well it looks like your APU is a bit on the lower end, not much of a problem for oblivion but it will see a slow down when you start recording game-play. You may want to bump Oblivion up in priority using the task manger and close all extra things like a web browser or media based program as it will eat away at your performance. It would help to know what your OS is as that can have an effect on your game too.

Here is some .ini tweaks that should help you if you haven't used them already.

The file you will want to edit is Oblivion.ini most likely located at C:\Users\(your username)\Documents\My Games\Oblivion

Just CTRL+F each of these one at a time and change the value to 1 (except the last one that needs to be 3 as you have a quad core)

bUseThreadedBlood=1 (default 0)
bUseThreadedMorpher=1 (default 0)
bUseThreadedTempEffects=1 (default 0)
bUseThreadedParticleSystem=1 (default 0)
bUseBackgroundPathing=1 (default 0)
bUseBackgroundFileLoader=1 (default 0)
iNumHavokThreads=3 (default 1)

Let us know if this helped you, and if not like I asked for earlier in my post please tell us your OS as some drops in frame rate can be caused by the OS.

The tweaks don't change the look of the game, Oblivion came out when it was common to have a signal core CPU or basic Dual core, and so it was set up to use only one core, the tweaks tell it to us 2 or 4 in your case. (the first core is called 0 so when you see 3 it means all 4 cores)

From what I have seen some people say turning off HDR in favor of bloom can help with the slow down on windows 10. You may also want to run it in compatibility mode windows 7 or XP (it will work but it is a bit of a pain to get it working with steam)

I turned off all the lighting effects (Bloom, HDR). and even tried disabling mods (Which oddly lowered my fps). and still I don't understand why i was able to do it before but now nothing

oh also I am using OBSE if that changes anything, and I used this program called CFF explorer to boost the .exe to use more ram I don't know if that actually did anything :confused:
