BuckeyeTiba
I was experiencing a Steam error when launching Skyrim, and it would not let me play. However, Steam launched Counter Strike Source just fine. I completely gave up on Steam and decided to play the game from the directory in C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim. The game ran from there, but not in fullscreen, and alt+enter would not work. To play in 1080p and fullscreen, you must edit the Skyrimprefs notepad in Documents/My Games/Skyrim rather than C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim. This will obviously only work if you are not running the game from Steam because it wouldn't launch. In the Skyrimprefs notepad, scrolls down and change the value for fullscreen from 0 to 1, and you can edit the width/height (resolution) from there as well to make it 1920x1080. Unless you like Steam more than actually playing the game, then this is the solution. Edited November 12, 2011 by BuckeyeTiba
