MagisterTremere
Vampires, while not themselves Daedric, are commonly accepted to have been created by Molag Bal. The Sermons may imply that Vivec had something to do with their origin as well, but whether this is a valid interpretation I do not know. Hello again Abramul, Thanks for the heads up. I did some checking and found this little piece of lore that confirms your assertion about Molag Bal. http://www.imperial-library.info/obbooks/l...uluslamae.shtml According to this, knowing that Arkay is tacitly involved sort of adds a little flavor to the concept. Of course this also leads us back to the daedric question. How much "daedric" is enough? I suppose what I'm looking for in all of this is story that's more mundane. I don't think many characters in the story should know much about or even care about Molag Bal. What's important is the here and now and truthfully, how much attention should they give to a rivalry between gods where they understand that they are nothing more than pawns? Perhaps the story could start out with commentaries delivered by a zealot of Arkay who seeks the eradication of vampires. From there, Count Hassildor and the Zealot of Arkay seek a champion to help marshall the forces against the perceived evil. The question is, "For whom will the champion fight"? Sounds like a dilemma to me. Is our character already a vampire? A Knight of The Nine? An Elf? Man? Beast? Crusader?
MagisterTremere
Having read some of the commentaries on vampire lore in other Elder Scrolls forums, it seems that the room for interpretation is open in regards to Cyrodillic vampires. It appears that they are somewhat different from Eastern vampires. Still reading... [update] I've come to learn that Clavicus Vile put his "mark" on Cyrodillic vampires as well by giving them the ability to walk in daylight if properly fed. This adds another layer to the concept. It also makes me reflect back on the Terran Vampire mod wherein the "Prince" states that they are much more powerful than Nirnian vampires. I'd say that with this ability and the Nirnian innate magickal ability, the claim is questionable at best. Not to mention the Weight of The Sun curse that belabors Terran Vampires. [update: 22 December 2007] According to the Manifesto Cyrodiil Vampyrum, found in the Vile Lair plugin, Cyrodiilic vampires operate under a veil of discretion and also seek power behind the scenes. This lends itself to my original proposition and it appears that they are not unlike a "Camarilla" type organization. I'm curious to hear what some of you think about this. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Manifest...rodiil_Vampyrum
