powered up enchanted weapons

I have an idea how to make enchanted weapons more unique and eliminating the need to manage soul gems at the same time.

The idea is that instead of every hit draining a charge until it gets to zero, the bar would start from zero and every hit would generate a charge instead. When you get a maximum number of charges the weapon would be powered up and you can then unleash a devastating attack, spell, buff, power, shout, you name it. I think this way it would make the combat more strategic and fun. there is a wide range of buffs and powers in the game and managing them is quite a chore, this way you could combine couple of them in a weapon and as it is not always available, not overpowering the weapons. You could even make a transforming weapon, that becomes another model for a short period of time. And the use power should have its own bindable key so that the coolness of the weapon wouldnt be shadowed by managing the menus.

Another way to do this, would be that every hit generates a charge but they degrade quickly when not hitting. The magic damage would be increased based on the number of charges you have on that weapon. This would make like some kind of berserking type of weapon as your power increases the more aggressive you are in combat.

I like your idea. Almost anything is better than the present stupid mechanic. I would either welcome soul gems with at least 5 uses so you actually can afford to recharge your weapon, or a change of the mechanic at all like you suggested. One should consider that enchanted weapons are especially important to melee/ranged only characters who have no other way to use lethal elemental force against very strong enemies like ice trolls. A weapons which generates charges would not help much, bc until you have hit the troll a lot for charges, you will be dead before you can unleash any ZOMG attack.

 

Why not let it refill itself over time like mana does, but not as fast? That way, if you really need the elemental power, you "meditate" (like witcher :P) and wait until your weapon is ready for troll flesh. OR, mod a buyable spell into the game which refills the weapon. That way, you can refill the waepon in combat while making yourself vulnerable, so tactical combat and thinking would still be necessary.

 

No matter what, I would appreciate ANY mod which gets rid of that annoyance in any possible way. It just should not outbalance the game, like charges never deplete or something.
