Melee weapons in place of bash attacks?

Is it possible to create a mod where you can equip a melee weapon as a secondary weapon that uses the bash/grenade hot key to attack, replacing a guns bash attack?

 

For example, you are equipped with a 10mm pistol, and when you hit the bash hotkey, you smack an enemy with a tire iron.

 

Does something like this already exist?

 

I never use melee weapons, but would make much more use of them if this were possible.
