Voular
I've been trying to locate the file chillrend uses, and to no avail. It has nothing I can identify, nor any file with chill or chillrend in it. I've looked through most places, and I can't even find a sound effect that sounds similar that could be using. Someone with keener ears maybe can help me out? If we can locate the file, we can apply 1GurU9's ingenious fix to our problems. Because Chillrend is my main weapon! (121 damage with upgrades, plus 30 frost and paralyze!).
1GurU9
I never equiped chillrend so I don't know what kind of sound it makes, but I suggest you to check the spells sounds because it's probably one of them that chillrend use. You can do it easyly with this http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=
Matt7895
My problem seems to have fixed itself, I stopped using Chillrend completely and I did some more of the Main Quest and somewhere along the line the sound stopped. I'm not getting any problems now at all. I wish I could nail down the exact solution, I just think it was a combination of using a different weapon, and doing the main quest where a lot of new sounds get introduced, maybe that forced the Chillrend sound to stop looping somehow. Voular
I found the soundfile for Chillrend, it's the idle loop for frostbite, simply use a silent sound (like Guru's) and rename it to "mag_frostbite_drawsheathe_lpm" and place it in sound/fx/mag/frostbite in your data folder. Yay.
Crunchyninja
Finding or spawning a Draugr Death Overlord (player.placeatme 2432A) and being blasted by their Unrelenting Force into a wall of an interior cell will remove the sound effect from the player but the sound effect will remain in the spot that it was removed so you might want to do it in a dungeon or somewhere you don't visit often. Some Draugr Death Overlords weren't able to knock my character down but the 2432A one was able to. I've tested it a few times and it may take more than one shout to actually knock the sound effect off of the player. Update - The sound effect, unfortunately, will find its way back to your character when you reload any saves :( Edited December 12, 2011 by Crunchyninja
