The Ability to block/parry with 1h weapon

I have to say I disagree on this one. I really like the new system of one button for left hand and one for right. If you have a single handed weapon, you still use your other hand to hold the weapon if you want to block, or you use a shield.

That's exactly why I want a block feature while having a spell in my left hand. I can already do it now! All I have to do ist open up my favorites menu, unselect the spell from my left hand, close the favorites menu, block. Then after I blocked and/or hit/got hit I can turn around, press 3 for heal, heal, and then I have to open up the favorites menu again and unselect heal to be able to block again. Sure I'm using my left hand to block, I'm just looking for a mod that let's me just block without all that tedium!

I favorited shiled on 1, and to have a empty left hand I press 1 twice, its better than nothing. But blcoking with shield is better ;)

So the hotkeys are enough to change fast from casting to blocking.

This doesn't work with spells. If you press the hotkey for a spell you already have in your left hand, it gets put in your right hand as well and after that it does nothing.

At the very least, I'd like to up the blocking capabilities of using a weapon a bit. I understand that shields are more effective, but I honestly like the aesthetic of using only a sword, and a one-handed one at that. Perhaps apply shield perks to blocking in general? I know that this wouldn't be perfectly 'realistic,' but this is a fantasy RPG we're talking about here. I want a badass character that can parry all sorts of s*** with his/her sword. I don't know how possible it'd be, but perhaps a quicktime counter-striking combat system? In other words, block at the right time, and hit attack at the right time and you execute a perfect parry-counterblow combination? That would be epic, as far as I'm concerned.

A slightly off-topic idea, applying a ward effect to one-handed blocking. In other words, when you block one-handed it puts up a shield that will block both physical and magical damage, whilst depleting magicka, as though you were focusing your magical energy into a parrying effort. That might be interesting to try out.
