WoogieMonster
...Shadowmere actually died....dead as a doornail....pushing up the daisies....bereft of life, it had gone to meet it's maker.....the Norweigan Black definitely does not prefer kipping on its back etc. etc. Now that I have cleaned up all the coffee I spilled from laughing so hard, yes I have seen Shadowmere die before. I was trying to get a surprise attack on a troll and just as I cast my most powerful spell, Shadowmere charged into battle. She suffered splash damage and after the most hilarious ragdoll in gaming history, she did not recover. She was the original and she was wearing the elven armor (just for looks). Luckily, I had an autosave that only took me back about an hour or so.
ninja_lord666
Umm...Shadowmere is essential. She can't die.
WoogieMonster
She's essential, she's not supposed to die, but I have a receipt from the glue factory that says otherwise. I just chalked it up as another glitch caused by putting armor on her. C'mon Ninja, are you telling me you have never seen a glitch that was supposed to be impossible? http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u201/WoogieMonster/glueworks.jpg This is just a joke for Ninja, please nobody pm me, I would not actually kill a horse... unless I was really really hungry. Ivar_the_berserk
Honestly I was glad to get rid of Shadowmere, kept getting in the way of me killing stuff I just summon the carpet with the midas spell mod never can loose the carpet, plus it has actual flying abilities however shadowmere has come out of nowhere plenty of times before when i was killing something and started to attack eventually i made it so it could actually die, so it died, very fast, in a battle it interrupted
Ibsen3
Yes, but I don't get sentimental about carpets. Shadowmere ain't wonderful but she was a named horse that I rightfully earned through the (otherwise quite disappointing) Dark Brotherhood quests and also, she was indestructible. I think that once you reach a high level then the amount of nasties increase to the point where she doesn't get in the way anymore because you're busy dealing with so many little critters. I wonder if it's possible to customise your horse like naming it, setting its health, making it essential/non-essential, give it different armours than the same two from Bethesda and make it whinny in a strangely understandable way like Lassie....
LoginToDownload
Actually, Ibsen, that all seems easy, (Aside from more armors, names that wouldn't involve picking one from a menu arena-style, and "lassie" dialogue. "Quit running me off cliffs, you male without a father!" So most of it, I suppose) doable, and a good idea. I think I'll give it a go. ...As soon as I'm done with Shivering Isles. Back I go. EDIT: Ooh, fully-customised names would actually be pretty easy, depending on the button-numbers allowed in messeageboxes...
Ivar_the_berserk
Yes, but I don't get sentimental about carpets. Eh, I could myself, because they are very soft at times but in all seriousness, you could name the horse by crackin open the CS, and copy the midas carpet spell script, and just replace the carpet creature with your named horse, then you can unsummon it later, if necessary. I prefer hot footin it tho
Ibsen3
Thanks all, Could you get back to me about that name-changing business once you discover the process in its entirety, please? I wonder if it would be possible to change the names of some relatively insignificant NPCs, too. To Ivar_the_berserk, You've just gone one technical level over my head, there. I think I know that CS = Command Script and that you probably mean finding a file in the Data folder, opening it (with Notepad?) and changing any lines that refer to the carpet with lines that say 'Shadowmere' but I have a few questions about that. The first is 'which file is would that be and where is it exactly?' The second is 'does this give Shadowmere the flying and water-crossing abilities of that carpet'? As ninja_lord666 said its the Construction Set. it definitely is handy for modding, its a shame they do dont have one for S.t.a.l.k.e.r *ahem* however it does involve scripting thru the CS. If you're interested I could make a mod with a spell that summons a horse on command with whatever name, color, stats, etc... and I could send you the .esp It might take some time tho, maybe a couple of days cuz I get rather busy
LoginToDownload
Thanks Ivar, that would be great! I wasn't aware the Construction Set did these things. Maybe I should give it a go and challenge my general technophobia. If you also have the option of making it essential, I'm sure that having that option would make it a worthwhile download for quite a few people. Call it 'Customised Mounts' or something. I certainly don't mind waiting...*Shameless plug here* But yes, just about all the Oblivion mods you see on this site are a product of the Construction Set. Very nice program.
