JohnnyFlash
I'm new to modding the game, and I can't seem to figure this out. I'm starting with the basic cave floor and I have a new texture made, but it will not load in the game. I followed the Oblivion wiki and some things I read in here. 1. Dumped textures with FOMM2. Edited in PS CS5 with the nvidia dds plugin.3. Saved as DXT3.4. Placed it in the correct directory.5. Created an ArchiveInvalidation.txt and added "textures\landscape\cavebaseground01.dds"6. Loaded the game It refuses to show up though, and I'm out of ideas. I'm hoping I just missed something simple. Ideas? Bythemark
You don't need any archiveinvalidation for skyrim. Are you sure you're using the right directory? It should be skyrim>data>textures. My textures work fine, but I've been using GIMP and DXT1. I don't think those parts should be an issue though.
Guest deleted1497950
I followed the same steps as you, except I did mine with PSelements with the nvidia plugin, but I just saved as a dxt1, because there were only three channels involved (rgb, no alpha). I also didn't do anything with the archive invalidation thing, and it worked for me. The only other thing I've heard about that could make a difference is making sure the little "load loose files" box is checked in the data tab of the launcher when you start up the game, although this was never an issue for me.
