Changing default movement type ?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Firstly, please don't mind my English, I'm not a native speaker and I'm only doing my best to make me understandable :) (if you see any mistake and have the time to make me know, do not hesitate to tell me about it ^^). Secondly, I'm not sure it's the right place to ask my question : if it is not, I apologize !

So, I've just dowloaded a mod which adds a new follower in the game. This follower is a dragon, and my issue is that he walks on the air or disappears through the ground while he is walking/running. But I'm not here to complain about this ! :P This dragon takes off while fighting, and from there came this idea : would it be possible to make him fly "by default", instead of walking/running (using TES5Edit, for example) ? It wouldn't fix the issue, but if he only flies, this won't be a problem anymore !

Thank you in advance :)

PS : I don't know if this is "mandatory", but here is the mod I'm talking about : http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49702/ :) Even if I've already asked my question on the comments thread, I thought I could be more helped here.

Not sure if it will work, but you could try the following...

Look up the ID for the race in Tes5Edit. Load the mod in CK and remove the 'Walks' flag from the race, can be found under the 'General Data' tab. This should make them unable to walk at all.

Thank you for your answer !

This was my first idea, not stupid after all ^^ (but I did it with TES5Edit, not the CK). Indeed, the dragon can't walk anymore. But, unless I tell him to attack, he doesn't take off and stays blocked on the ground (he can only turn his head toward me).

An idea how to make him take off ? I've looked into the shout which makes him land, but I couldn't find what is specifically used to make him land (is it a script ?). If I had, I would be able to create the opposite spell (I guess) :p

I took a closer look at the mod, and yes, it seems the landing is handled by the script 'LandShoutFaallokaar' which is attached to the magic effect of the shout. Sadly the source file isn't provided by the author, so it's not possible to look at the script to see what is does exactly.

You could possibly create another spell or shout that will add a AI Package to the dragon to force it take off, using a quest with optional reference alias. But it's hard to tell if that would even work, without knowing how the landing script works.
