jshaffstall
This request is not targeted at the normal audience for the game, but for those of us with younger children. I'd love to be able to sit my six year old daughter down in front of Skyrim, and say, "Have fun exploring!" As it is, though, she's too young for a hack and slash game, and doesn't have the reading level to understand dialogue choices. But kids that age love wandering around virtual worlds and exploring. Tourist Mode would ideally have: 1) No combat. Nothing attacks, and the PC can't attack 2) Basic NPC responses, no dialogue choices 3) Full environmental interaction (pulling levers, getting hurt by traps, etc) That would let younger ones interact with the game in a way that would be fun for them, without having to worry about the parts they're not ready for yet. I have no idea how difficult something like this would be, but it'd be pretty great for gaming Dads.
McclaudEagle
Without the Creation Kit, this type of mod will not be possible yet. It will be possible once it's released though. If it's anything like the GECK (Fallout 3/NV), then I could do most of the parts except the dialog. MrTastix
It's like a "Parental Guidance" version of Skyrim! I endorse this idea, I could probably get my little sister to love these types of games if she didn't just see the dragon fly past whilst I'm at the keyboard, but if she walked under it herself. kitsuneshoujo
This is a really cool idea! +1 for the OP. :D
atrayu17
since im a teenager i guess this would be good for people that have no ability to play games or they are too young and by too young i mean under
Graxster
Well, you could turn off the combat AI, so enemies ignore your character. I don't know of any console command to prevent quest conversations though. Press ~ (tilde) to open the console in-game.type: tcaiPress ~ to exit console.Repeat to turn it back on. In this mode the player char CAN attack, but the NPC's will just stand there. If you tell your kids not to attack anything... :) (tcai is short for ToggleCombatAI)
jshaffstall
Turning off the combat AI goes a long way to creating the sort of experience I'm looking for. A little training could handle the "Don't press E when a character is in front of you" issue, along with the "Don't attack" issue. I'll play around with that, and see how it works. Thanks! Graxster
If you just want to be able to explore the world (look around), you can simply use the console command tfc (toggle flying camera) which releases the camera from its fixed position behind your character. jshaffstall
I'll give tfc a try, too. I suspect that walking around, climbing mountains (as opposed to flying up them) is going to be more fun for my daughter, but you never know. jshaffstall
I've had a chance to play with this on the laptop my daughter would play on. tcai is great, but needs to be reapplied each time the game is started. How hard would it be to make a mod that turned combat AI off by default?
