Underwhelming Cities?

I love the cities in Skyrim and they're far, far more impressive than any of the cities in Oblivion.

Like someone said, each has it's own clear style and architecture, loads of people who actually talk to you as well as being visually impressive.

I absolutely love Whiterun, not sure why.

I think they did a lot better job on the cities in skyrim vs oblivion.

* Large towns from what i can tell.

* lots of people/more active vs like the 15 or less in oblivion.

* good 2 hours of quests i got from the 1st major town. whiterun?

* overall i prefer these towns idk about others but there is so much stuff to do

at any time of day.

* i talked to other people who played it and they just skip stuff and dont talk to

the citizens and miss out on things.i got my 1st follower the archer in Riverside

and they didnt even know about him and just followed the main quest. :whistling:

* only issue i have with the towns is they are very compact and hard to find merchants.

I love the towns and cities, oddly reminds me of Age of Empires II with some of the architecture in the more... backwoods areas, and I think that's a nice touch. Definitely getting a dark age, scandinavian/germanic/fall of the Roman Empire feel from these locales.

And the citizens? They are interesting, they make comments on your equipment, and you never hear two awkward puppets talking to each other in the same voice in tense, poorly-scripted conversation. You know Oblivion only had 13 voice actors?

I also feel that many of the cities are small. They are in my opinion much more alive than those in Oblivion though. Still, all cities in Skyrim that I have visited so far feels kind of the same, just with a different look on the outside. Same stock in shops and bars etc. [cencored] level scaling destroying the immersion there I think...

TES games have always skimped on the populace of cities and towns. Theres and Oblivion mod that added extra NPCs to Cyrodil or whatever the main city is. Id like to see that added.

Think you have to understand about Skyrim is that this is "backwood" redneck country essentially. Its a frontier. Solitude and I guess that other huge city are the main city-cities. The others are basically villages of extended families. Which is why Riverwood had like three families living there.
