Including DLC items in quest mod that requires SEQ?

So, I'm working on a follower mod that will have special trainable followers, and one of my scripts is going to be a modified brawl script that has the player and the follower equip wooden swords to spar. I noticed, however, that the wooden sword is a Hearthfire item. As this mod has quest dialogue, however, I can't generate an SEQ if it has any dependencies. I know this has been done before, so I was wondering how it's done.
