rainman400
Is there any way we can use the player name in a dialogue? Like, use the name that the player enters at the starting of the game in a dialogue text spoken by an NPC?
RubikNight
Not that I know of, but I bet you someone can make a mod to do that..
Ashven
Pretty sure %PCname got cut from Oblivion and therefore from Fallout, since it only had a use in Morrowind, which had textbased dialogue. It's unlikely you'd be able to get it in any dialogue. Most people just go for something generic, like "Courier," "Stranger," and my favourite, "asshat." xD
Heffy
I remember the player’s name appeared in messages found on Talon Company mercs corpses in Fallout 3. It also appears in the PipBoy’s Stats > status menu. Not sure it can be used in a dialogue menu, but it would probably be the right place to start looking for that function. However, there is no way an npc could "pronounce" the player’s name during a dialogue. All dialogues are just sound files recorded in a studio with actors. For the player’s name to be said by an npc, it would require the game to have some kind of text-to-speech system, which is not the case (and even if it had such a thing, it would probably sound very fake...). davidlallen
Use "&player". (EDIT: correction as pointed out by Q below: correct spelling is &PCName;) It is used in some notes, such as "Dear &player, blah blah blah". It can also be used in dialog spoken by the player, such as "Hello stranger, my name is &player". But don't use it in dialog which will be spoken by NPCs. Quetzlsacatanango
Use &PCName; Anywhere you use this string will be substituted with the name you entered at the beginning of the game. Doesn't apply to voices, of course... Edited November 14, 2011 by Quetzlsacatanango
