Skyrim Random Freezes

Hello Guys

Skyrim has already proved to be a very unforgiving game in terms of crashes, freezes, and just problems, many people are frustrated that they have spent there money on this product, and it still won't work properly despite there PC's having the games requirements. I in some case are lucky, my game runs smoothly most of the time, and I have to be grateful that I can actually play whilst others have to wait painstakingly for a patch or an answer to their problem.

My problem is Random freezes within Skyrims wilderness, these freezes do not occur in dungeons or houses, or major cities, however outside in the game world whilst exploring I run into random freezes, they last for about 2-4 seconds, and happen every 5 minutes or so (or randomly) These freezes aren't game breaking but they make Skyrim's special experience a whole lot less enjoyable I'm running Skyrim on Windows XP and my PC adheres to the games requirements

If anyone has any idea as to how to solve this issue please reply, I hope that everyone experiencing worse problems then my self, can get them sorted and settle down to play some Skyrim.

I get the same problem it reminds me of the 'loading area' message in Oblivion where the game used to freeze. Many people are saying the same thing on the official forums with specs exceeding the recommended specifications.

This has been pretty much narrowed down to Windows XP users and by the look of things there are quite a lot

A workaround whereby you run the game in WIN95 compatibility mode stops the freezing happening but you end up sacrificing quite a lot of FPS and so for many people it makes it unplayable.

The game auto-detects medium quality for me but i have it up at high and it runs fine, apart from the occaisional freezing for 3-7 secs. It happens on medium settings aswell.

Fixes taken from the official forum:

jackmait:

"Since game is a bit sluggish on win95 compatibility mode I've tried forcing game to run on one core only in normal boot, but that had freezes as well. Then I tried to enable both cores in win95 mode by alt-tabing and setting affinity to both cores and it works! I now have nice performance and not freezes by running the game in win95 compatibility mode, and then enabling both cpu cores with task manager. "

Confirmed by others and me, the game now lags slightly rather then freeze for 1-7 seconds every couple of times. They say you will get the same result but better performances win98/me.

Anselmu:

"GOOD NEWs. I found a fix, atleast work for me.

Well thanks to ENBSeries =).

Download this http://enbdev.com/si...ill5patch10.zip in his site, and extract d3dx9.dll, the enbfixshaders and enbfixshadersvs txts, the enbseries ini, vars_pc.cfg to the main diretory of the game. Start reduce the graphical settings like aa etc, for your vga be able to do the job, and be happy. 1h of gameplay withght a single freeze."

will try this now.

Late edit, (5 hours later) the Silent Hill fix works fine as well. "the Silent Hill 5 solution forces you to disable AA and AF or you get massive performance issues...at least for me. I'll stay with the WIN95 solution until a patch arrives. "
