Curt Sibling
Being a non-christian has it's advantages! I neatly side-step the whole ball-game. To me all I see is commercial companies beating a drum to capturethe feelings of tradition inherent in most 'joe-normal' people. When yokels say to me, "Well! You have to buy them something to keep the peace, eh?" I say: "No you don't, you sap!" The whole thing is crazy. And the whole thing being about the birth of some supposed divine personality in the classical times is somewhat lost on most. But anyway, xmas isn't my problem! Enjoy the debt! ctogher
Funny though that druids came up with a holiday with "christ" in the name, I guess they called it somthing else but would that really be christmas then? I belive it was halloween that the druids came up with and because the catholic church couldn't stop it's popularity they made it a bonified holiday. Whenever the holiday *christ*mas came along I'm sure it had somthing to do with the christan faith. :o You mean to tell me that the Catholic Church had the umitigated gall to change the name of a druidic festival?!!! (lol) Once again, (with feeling).... We wish you a merry mo cusghla moCroidhe! We wish you a merry mo cusghla moCroidhe! Get with the program folks! Want to instill some healthy feelings of respect and goodwill into a populace which has just been subjugated? How about enforcing the rule of 'give and forget....' (hehehe). Naughty Mr Bishop!!! How dare your beliefs differ to mine! (By the way, Merry XMas and here's a chocolate covered cudgel to prove it! See! My God IS better than yours......)

ctogher
The Christmas season may have lost its "true meaning" for most of us but at least it gives people the initiative to be kind, and happy to others. :D The Grinch is dead! Long live the Masked Individualist!!! Interesting to note that from this I have manged to infer that, except for one month out of twelve, we should be miserable, antisocial and uncaring? Why not treat everyone with respect, kindness and dignity for the other eleven? Its not as if there is a valid reason not to? All I am saying is that as a reason to feel pressured into spending vast amounts of dosh for people you barely know it is somewhat lacking in common sense...
wesaynothin
I would like to remind the members of this board, you all forgot to write Jesus a Happy Birthday card. You accidently wrote it to a mister 'Kringle'. And also remember, you don't ask for presents from Jesus on his birthday, you buy them for him. Christ gives his regards,--Wesay
Akrid
Wesaynothing, I thought you where jewish, your a jewish christan? And I still don't know what mallarky means.
Malchik
We have an organisation in the UK called Jews for Jesus. IIRC Jesus is recognised as an important religious character in both the Jewish and Islamic religions but not accepted as the son of God. Chambers dictionary - malarky (one l) or malarkey:- US slang meaning an unfounded story or nonsense. Okay Acrid?
Hayabusa
well I don˛t like one thingŁ X Mas has nothing to do with religion. I˛don t mean, it has to be. I dnt like the fact its so obligatorz to give gifts feel happy, if it were just 3 days off,. that would be good. And remeber, due to medics Santa is morphinist. one of the very last *religious* elements become personification of stupidity. sorry but I hate this mostly artificial atmosphere. make we finally a celebration to Mercury. 25 of December was once pagan day, dedicated to Sun Invincible. Let s stay with other religious days, but stop this and make it fully commercial. to stop all this hypocricy :!: BTW I wish all of you all the best in the New Year ! Ah, one more thingŁ Malchik, by the way, thanks for the explanation. For me it˛s quite precious information. hundinman
Well I doubt anything is celebrated the way it used to be hundreds of years ago. Maybe christmas isn't that great when you pick it apart and judge every aspect of it. But christmas does have some validity, it is a tradition. People make traditions based on food dancing music everything, christmas just happens to be a popular one. So what if people buy a lot of crap and all the stores are packed, it makes about as much sense as getting drunk, it does nothing for you but you do it to unwind or celebrate, it's once a year and it's a break from the everyday normal routine. I have no beef with christmas. Well you are right, Christmas has absolutely everything to do with the Christian Faith. And I am glad that you called it the Christian faith and not a religion because it is not a religion. Anyway, Jesus Christ was born in a stable and he was God's own son. He was born unto a virgin. God put the baby in her and she gave birth to him. Wise men and shepherds gave him gifts and worshipped him. he grew up teaching in temples and he got thousands if not millions of followers throughout the region he was born in., He had disciples and they traveled by foot and camel thousands of miles just to tell people about Jesus. It is called the Gospel. Since no huan is naturally worthy of going to heaven Jesus' main purpose was to die so that we would be forgiven of all our sins. He was nailed on a cross through his hands and feet and he died. When he died the sun burnt out because of the severity of our sins. He did not only die because of the sins that had already been commiting but for every sin yet to be commited until he came back with his father, God, and defeats the devil and takes all the believers to heaven. I will be with God that day going to heaven. I wish I could stay behind and kill everyone who follows satan. If you don't follow god then you follow satan and are condemned to hell for all of eternity. Hundinman
