Spockendil
After several years of limping around Skyrim mods using Steam, I finally have been forced to the Nexus by Bethesda's new site for FO4 mods. Now that I've registered my account, I'd like to browse and maybe download a couple of mods, but once I leave the forums, it seems that I'm back with unencrypted http. Is there any way to access the actual mods through the more secure https, so that my login credentials aren't broadcast to the world in plain text? I apologize if this question has been asked a hundred times before. I did search the forums, but either I got nothing, or else I got several dozen pages of responses, which didn't seem to have an answer. DrakeTheDragon
Well, this answer isn't worth much, but from all I know the login process itself always was SSL secured, regardless of the site's own protocol. Your credentials were never broadcasted in plain text. And from all I recall they attempted to switch the frontend of the site over to HTTPS as well for obvious reasons a while ago, but due to unforeseen consequences and errors aplenty, up to the site becoming completely unusable, they had to undo this step again and will likely return to it once the major site rework is going live. Again, take this with the according grain of salt and wait for one of the devs or in the know to chime in instead for any actual facts, but that's what I know about it at least. Spockendil
Thanks for the information, and the quick reply. I'll play around with the site for a while. I look forward to the re-designed site with full https on the front end. Eventually I'll probably join as a paying member, but it takes me a while to become comfortable with new things. Not sure that there will be much of an alternative once Bethesda goes live with its Skyrim re-release. It's good that you folks are around, and already established.
