just like the title says.

I tried to bank my levels... and when I made the choice i had to take all of them or none of them... so I'm lvl 8 do the first companion quest the Falkrem or whatever and talk about hard... caught the leader in a glitch or he and his robot pal killed me in 2-3 hits... seemed excessively hard for what should be a starter quest

so is there any way like in Oblivion to control levelling? or do i have to take when they are presented to me?

thanks in advance.

Same problem I have with the game, tho I'm trying to train all 5 points for each level. So for now I'm trying to make money, with out gaining skillpoints, just to train and it means that I'm not actually doing any quests or anything like that.

If you have earned enough XP to go up multiple levels, going to the level up screen will force you to take all of those levels and assign all of the attribute increases. However, you do not have to spend all, or even any, of the perks, you can save those for later and assign them any time by going to the skill screen.

Not really sure what the point is of trying to spend all of the training slots for each level, since training increases count toward leveling.

It's all about to know where to find expensive stuff without have to do to much. Certain quests give a good reward for very little work.

Yeah, that's one of the problems but if you don't train all 5 points for that level you will miss out on a lot of skillpoints. What is it? 100 trained skillpoints at level 20?

So in short, its hard to get money (at the beginning) to train enough and when you actually train you just get in more trouble getting money because you level up.

Essentially, it sounds like you're wanting an easier game by banking levels and controlling how fast you move up. If that's the case, then just lower the difficulty. If it's more that you want to spend more time enjoying each level, there's a mod on the nexus that slows the skill gains, ideal for you.

Not an easier game, just to make the most of each level. I mean the difficulty of the game isn't to avoid levelling up before you bought all training points. Besides higher level=more money, perks and better gear (at cost of harder enemies).

If I have understood it right, increasing your lower skills has a lower impact on how fast you level. So training is basically just to make a more balanced character.

How do you guys understand this? Banking levels? I've played Elder Scrolls games for years and have no idea what you're saying. You made the choice you had to take all of them or none of them.... one at a time, even though you have enough XP for more? I don't understand the context or reference, your post needs some clarity...

I fail to see why some ppl don't understand the point that OP is trying to make...

Banking Level = You have enough EXP to gain a level or more, but you refuse to Tab -> Level Up. Instead you just keep on playing and gaining more EXP. That you have accumulated enough EXP to gain another level, and another and another, but you don't do a Level Up.

However, when you do, you gotta use up all those Levels you have Banked. You can't just Level Up once and save the rest Banked.

Geeez..

Training non-combat related skills is a risk in Skyrim :) I really like it that way.

The difficulty might scale up to very hard when your combat related skills aren't up to par with you character level. ESPECIALLY when you purposely don't assign your level stat bonuses. What did you expect? :)

My flatmate had a similar issue: he power leveled pick pocketing to get the 100 extra carying weight perk (leveling pick pocketing goes really fast; almost every attempt yields a skill point so he got carried away with it for a bit). He ended up having a much harder time doing the same quests as I did, ten levels lower than him. So now he has been power leveling his light armor skill by pissing off a mud crab for an hour to compensate.

Bank levels / power level non-combat skills at your own peril in Skyrim!
