Ozisl Posted November 14, 2011 Share Posted November 14, 2011 It would be quite handy to be able to melt down/recover materials from all of the useless items you find (steel daggers etc) to gain crafting materials from them... since you can "harvest" magical mods and get hides easily, this would make crafting a lot easier and the useless loot useful. If I had to guess I'd say that the crafting stations are a type of container activator that can be altered using scripts or interface. It would be very unwise of them to rely on hardcoding every time they needed to make a minor change/addition/deletion from the crafting system. Best way would be to add a new section to smelter called "Salvage" With a list recipei for every basic weapon type. Enchanted weapons/Legendary can't be melted down. In which case, the recipes are linked to a specific station and are hard coded to that station, so making a new station might not be possible.
