mudkip Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I did a little searching for related topics, but what was already here hasn't helped. I had Oblivion installed on a partition other than C:\. This original copy I had was installed via iso. I ended up formatting my C:\ drive, so most of my Oblivion files were still on my computer, but I had to reinstall the game. For the reinstall, I had a legitimate CD and the installation was successful (I think) even though I did not uninstall anything other than whatever was on C:\. Unfortunately, the game has been crashing a bit and I was looking to install a patch, but now I'm running into problems. I'm getting the "old file not found" error. I found on another forum a link to this page about mods being incompatible, but I have no idea what versions the mod I'm using (cosmetic compilation) is compatible with. Er, yeah. Anyway, is it the mod? Should I have uninstalled before the reinstall? Can I go straight from v1.0 to v1.2? If not, where can I get v1.1? It's not available on elderscrolls.com. Sorry for being retarded.
TheTerminator2004 Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 You should have uninstalled it first really, yes... was the version you installed via iso a legal copy, or was it cracked? If it was a cracked version, then there's absolutely nothing you can do about it, at all. If not, you could try uninstalling, then reinstalling, then patching, that might work.
mudkip Posted December 25, 2007 Author Posted December 25, 2007 I'm pretty sure it was a legal version but it was so long ago I can't remember. I'll probably do the unistally thing if I get frustrated enough with using this non-patched version. I've seen those threads regarding the difficulty of uninstalling and reinstalling Oblivion, so I'll stick with what I've got for now. ;P Thank you.
mudkip Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 I copied it from my friend. Well, friend's friend's friend. So really, that it is legal is just hearsay. And will do, thanks again.
