LukeTroy
I like the idea of the cooking mechanic, but sadly it's almost useless. There's a couple of recipes in there like Venison Soup or whatever it is that offer long term buffs that might actually be useful but there's only like 3 of them and the rest are completely pointless. Since they are often worth less than the sum value of their ingredients, it's not even worth it financially. I think I heard you can make money from it somewhere in the game but it's the buffs that interest me. Different enough from spells to be worth it, but like I said there's only 3 or so. It would be nice if someone could develop a second tier of skills for things like cooking/chopping wood/general busy work, so that as you got better at them the benefits increase. Maybe even the old Morrowind skills of athletics and acrobatics so you run faster and jump higher and can breathe under water longer. It would be good if you had to find new recipes as you progressed through the game and you just have to be a certain level with , but if it's easier, maybe you just learn the new recipes as you level up. It wouldn't have to be a lot, maybe just 10 or 20 levels, with interesting perk-style buffs so if you eat a certain kind of food, the well rested buff lasts twice as long or if you eat a carrot soup you can see better for 12 minutes (not full-on night eye but just every things a nit brighter) or maybe something like a certain kind of feed attracts animals and if you eat it you get twice as many wolves and deer and stuff hopping around for a while. It could be a real opportunity for some nice, somewhat left of center spell effects as well as making the cooking mechanic a little more relevant. Let me know what you guys think.
