Looking for a tutorial on working with models.

Recommended Posts

I have been makign mods for bethesda games since morrowind, but I have never made a mod that used new models. Basically, I want to create a new recipe for a placeable object that uses assets already in the game (I am calling it a compound model) in my head.

I will also be lookign at making it, and some related world objects snappable, but will cross that bridge later.

Anyway, I need some tips on working with the models themselves. I am not sure if I need a third party tool or what, but I basically want to combine already existing models into one object. Are there any links to this kind of info?

If you're able to bear with mild rambling at times, this is probably one of the only tutorial videos I've managed to find relating to properly bringing models as objects into Fallout 4.

Though, if you more mean actually making the models, I'm uncertain on how to reverse engineer that, particularly. But if you're looking for an actual modelling program, you can always use Blender. It's free, even if it does require a bit of learning on how to use it well. That YouTube video I linked has a part 1 where he goes over some basics in Blender, if needed.

If that's still not what you meant, I suppose that's all I've got, at the moment. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I've worked with maya, blender, 3DS, etc. Mostly I want to make a grid of already existing models, and craft it as a new single object in workshop. I can handle literally everything but the model, lol. Seeing as the assets I need already exist, I was hoping I could just use the CK to make the new group of existing assets, but cannot figure that out either, so I suspect I need to export the asset, arrange them into a new model and then re-import it or somesuch
