Yes. I've read many people running intot he issue of grinding crafting or something and ending up with all the enemies leveling to meet their overall level, but their combat level being much too low to beat any of them. So I would advise against grinding any skills and do it fairly evenly.

Isn't that a bit of an issue though, since the game allows you to try to make a living doing certain activities (smithing, for instance)? If you're crafting lots of armour or something, you will inevitably be grinding smithing, and then you are to be penalised for it?

I wish Bethesda would give up on the level scaling nonsense. I understand they want players to continue to have a challenge at high levels, but requiring forty whacks with an enchanted axe to take down a mudcrab is not the answer. Looking forward to a mod that deals with that, though their efforts this time appear more restrained as I haven't yet had the nightmare of glass-armour bandits appearing.

i mean if i level my crafting skills will my character be weaker against monsters? compared to not using the crafting skills and training combat to level my character

say if youre level 1 and you reach level 10 just by smithing. will he be weak?

You'd have to do it on purpose (or be really really dense lol)

If you level by doing things like smithing, alchemy and speech, avoid fights, putting all your points in magicka or stamina, pick only perks in (non-combative) skills like lockpicking, alchemy, speech, smithing etc. and then after many many hours of building this absolutely inapt, healthless character take up your sword, venture into the world and start taking on giants and dragons.
