1ricca
Where do I find this? I keep seeing it everywhere and can't find the "load loose files" checkbox. Could someone help real quick on this and to clarify for future readers. (top hit on google).
mattsailor
Tricca - In the launcher there is a list of items: Play, Options, Data Files, Tech Support and Exit. If you click "Data Files" a dialogue box opens with a check box for load loose files. Edited December 3, 2011 by mattsailor
FlashThunder
Same issue here, It always unchecks itself and I dunno if any of the mods I installed are actually working, except only one UI mod which is really insignificant to say the least. MShoap13
As I posted earlier, I also have this issue. However, all of my texture replacers (No More Blocky Faces, Clothes Improvement, Armor Improvement, Enhanced Night Sky, Skyrim HD, etc., etc.) work just fine. I don't have any form of archive invalidation set (as NMM's Archive Invalidation is currently broken and I see no reason to use Oblivion's or Fallout's Archive Invalidation method as my replacers have all worked fine so far) though I am on Windows XP which gives me the bonus of not having Windows UAC. If you're on Vista/7, Steam (and therefore Skyrim) is installed in the default (C:\Program Files) location, and you're having problems with replacers or simply mods (plugins) not working at all, even though you've activated them in NMM, or mods refusing to deactivate, even though all of their files have been removed, then you most likely have a UAC problem. It is possible to turn off UAC though it's not recommended for the vast majority of Windows users. To get around UAC without turning it completely off you'll need to move Steam to a location UAC does not affect (C:\Games\ is a commonly used location). This will most likely break any 3rd party utilities such as NMM as it will leave old registry keys behind that point to the location you originally installed Skyrim in. If you come across this issue, you'll have to uninstall Skyrim, clean the old registry keys, reboot, then reinstall Skyrim. I personally recommend using Revo Uninstaller as if you uninstall Skyrim through it, it will automatically scan for and ask if you'd like to delete old registry keys. If you're interested in keeping your old mods, config files, and/or saved games, tips found in Bben's Oblivion Reinstall Procedure work for Skyrim as well. sandro4728
hey guys,i got various texture-mods like enhanced-starsky..enhanced blood...realistic-waterriples..hi-res-furniture.. enhanced trrain noise and the flora and funa overhaul i think i got them work fine the starsthe noise and the furniture for sure with the flora and funa i am not sure yet (here is the firts question : if you know that one .bsa file is working just fine on the path : skyrim/data/textures/lanscape/trees , is it the case that any other tree-file in that folder must be working properly too????)it hasn´t rained yet so i never got to se the ripples but the blood is my second problem.... that mod is devided in to sections one .esp file and a folder full of .bsa files after placing the bsa files and activating the esp file i got some improvements like the shown blood on the screen and that on the weapon but the blood textures for the splatter don´t seem to have changed - is that possible? if yes ->got anyone an idea how to fix it?? and now the most important question after istaling all these mods my game crashes at some point ....some times afte half an hour somtimes after 10 minutes how can i see which part of the mods causes those break downs ??? sandro
MShoap13
@ question 1, see the post above yours. @ question 2, the part that increases memory usage (the textures themselves). Get Skyrim 4GB and this should go away, though it only helps so much as the new Papyrus memory controller is pretty bad so if you find it crashing again in the future you may want to uninstall/get lower map size versions of some of your texture replacers. Boris over at ENB is working on a fix for this and has released an early version of ENBseries with his fix implemented, though I'd only recommend it if you're still experiencing frequent crashes after installing Skyrim 4GB. Also, Bethesda is in the process of writing/rewriting the game's code for upcoming patches so they may help as well. Floaticola
Well there is some high weirdness here then. Textures and other 'mods' like sound changes are loading okay for me. That check box is not ticked on , the load loose files thing. Something else is amuck I suspect. Are there any commonalities to our non-working enviroments? * x64 Windows 7* ATI Radeon 5800 I have this problem too. I'm also using x64 Windows 7 and an ATI Radeon 5800. Though it could be a coincidence.

I find it odd that the 4GB patch helps, but even on 64 bit systems Skyrim won't remain stable after crossing around 1.8 GB of RAM anyways, so...
