hotweldfire
Have seen reference to this bug on a pc gamer review: We got a review copy of Skyrim the day the game was officially finished, but it’s curiously buggy. Among a lot of minor problems such as issues reassigning controls, there’s glitchy character behaviour that can break quests, and AI flipouts that can turn a whole town against you.. Now, like that review, I am absolutely loving this game. Looks like the TES game I've been waiting a decade for. So, go into Dragonsreach to buy my first house and the entire hall go for my throat. Literally every NPC turns red including small children. Try reloading the autosave inside the cell same thing. Load the quicksave outside the cell and the guards outside the hall don't have a problem. Go inside and I get attacked. If inside being attacked I go outside and go back in I get attacked. If I go out on to the porch area up the stairs I get attacked out there. So it appears all NPCs inside the halls and it's surrounds want to kill me but the rest of the town is fine. Any suggestions? This is an unpleasantly early game breaker for me that will necessitate a demand refund from Steam.
hotweldfire
If it's any help here's a bit of context. It's a couple of days after killing first dragon. On the day before main character has killed one more dragon outside city walls and two giants. Giants were drawn in close to the town so there may have been some civilian casualties (killed by the giants, not by friendly fire). Go back to the inn and get attacked by Uthgerd the unbroken. This is after having beaten her in a fist fight the day before and turning her down as a companion. No words or preamble. Cut her down. Go to bed. Next day leave the inn and a courier gives me a letter from the jarl saying uthgerd has left me her inheritance (a 100gold and a house key - where is her house btw). Head up to dragonsreach to ask what the hell is going on and to buy my first house. Then the mayhem ensues.
