Oblivion might be more realistic than you think...

I saw that on the Discovery Channel last night, I thought it was old (since the Discovery Channel is not exactly breaking news), I did not realize it just recently happened. But yeah, I did think about TES when I saw the scientist holding it, more specifically, I thought about that Dunmer lady with her "pets" in the basement.

Those of you who know the stories of Conan Doyle may or may not remember that Sherlock Holmes had a tale of The Giant Rat of Sumatra he said European ears were too innocent to hear. Doctor Watson was never allowed to write that adventure. Perhaps he knew something we did not!

We get to see a lot of weird animals here even in our home ...

these last 2 years, I saw a huge Biawak Air ... I think it's Water Monitor in English, running out from the sewers ..

But we also never seen any European animals here.. lol!

Thanks for the information Povuholo.

I am not surprised to see that a rat has evolved to fill a niche in the Foja Mountains. Scientists have discovered a new and tiny species of human that lived in Indonesia Homo floresiensis And rats are very adaptable. One of the first physical adaptations a species makes to a new ecosystem seems to be size. Some get bigger and some become dwarfs.

OMGWTFBBQ!!!11! o_O That thing is HUGE! :teehee: Not quite as big as Oblivion's rats, but that's big for something supposed to be small... Then again, rats can get pretty huge...

I've never had the chance to be around rats at all, and when I dirst got in Oblivion I figured the rats couldn't be too far off from the real thing. I didn't know that rats were generally.. well city rats. I figured bigger versions might be common enough.

Trivia?

Josephoartigasia monesi was a giant prehistoric rodent in the Pliocene, the largest known to date. It lived about four million years ago in today's Uruguay.

The species was approximately 3 meters (10 feet) long and 1.5 meters (5

feet) tall. Its incisors were more than 30 cm (12 inches) long. The

animal weighed about a ton, and ate soft vegetation.

The species - the only one in the genus Josephoartigasia at present - is known based on a fossil of its skull, which is 53 centimeters long. Its closest living relative is the pacarana.

As largest known rodent, it replaces the 700-kilo (1,540 pounds) Phoberomys pattersoni, a related and somewhat older animal that lived in Venezuela during the Late Miocene.
