assassin type char?

I started a assassin type of char because i like to be "evil" hehe. I have a few question on how to go about making a char like that. But first here is what i have tested so far..

I made a char with archery as main skill, but i find it silly hard to get anything killed with a bow, at around lvl 13-15 the mobs can sometimes rip my light armor toon to shreds before i get them to half health with the bow. And i find the skill sneak to be unreliable as hell, unless that changes. My archery lvl is about 55-60 atm, my sneak is 35-40 i think. So how on earth do i dish out damage with a bow when i can't be at ranged, or kill them before they kill me?

Questions:

How does sneak work at lvl 100? can i sneak up on sometime that is facing me if it is in a cave dungeon?

Is it worth using daggers? It seems to me that you can not make a pure melee char in this game..

I love the game, i played a warrior type char with shield and blade and worked pretty well, some problems with mages but doable.

Yeah, sneak at even 100 won't get you close to a NPC without being detected.

The sneak in Oblivion was ridiculous tho, sneak in Skyrim is much more realistic. I like it :)

Try using the Dark Brotherhood boots, they don't make noise whilst sneaking.

I have killed many a foe with sneaking and using a bow with one or 2 shots, I usually take the first shot, then retreat to another position without being seen, then go in for the second kill shot.

I have not tried daggers yet to be honest. I don't fell comfortable sneaking that close to an enemy, chances are you are going to get hammered. :/

iv not had much issue with it as i myself and doing the same but also use duel wielding, lvl 18 atm, sneaking is better in this game i think, have yet to join the dark brotherhood, or thieves guild, as for daggers, not found any good ones to try yet..so i have an axe and a sword atm..but i did read daggers in stealth are awesome in this game, plus the perk for 15x% more dmg with them in stealth..and they make no noise while sneaking..a bow doesn't either...other weapons make noise just as your armor though...oh and btw sound/light/etc effect stealth

Side note..not sure if this helps..i'v been playing on master since i created my char

My rogue carries three daggers and two other weapons. I do a lot of sneaking around (and sneaking up on things) and when I can get into melee range stealthed, the daggers are amazing. Several high-level creatures have been one-shotted this way, and for normal dungeon-lurking I find stealth-perks+one-shotting faster than regular meleeing+non-stealth running. (Two elemental damage daggers or one elemental damage and one soul trap depending on what I'm facing.) Things I can't sneak up on, I get the larger weapons out.

I'm having a hard time with Illusion though. I LOVE fury, but at character level 32 my illusion is only 30-35. Of course, it doesn't NEED to be a ton higher to do what I want.

*Edit* I do have +sneak armor and I carry a couple invisibility potions. One-shotting high level casters is MUCH easier than dealing with them spellcasting.

yeah i am not saying sneaking is broken or bad, just that i have problems with it and being a archer. But is it worth getting shadow master? (vanish) or should i focus on filling up the first perk?

And any tips on how to go about being a archer, i just dont seems to make it work, i use a glass bow with elven arrows atm, and the damage seem low. And yes i read about the DB set, i am on my way to make a new toon and afk lvl sneak to 100 then start playing, and first thing is getting the DB set.
