RavveN
Hey guys... I kinda only ask you for advises because you will only answer smart and true, so here it is. Yes i am addict to games and overall whole computer thing, so i need some help to get off it...At least for a week, i tried shutting it down but something just draws me to him to play again. I am now going to high school and i really don't wanna spend my life working on streets, i don't go with my friends nowhere anymore, i totally spaced school (if i said it right) and worst of all i find computer more friendly than any other person. So i really need help...How to get off this damn thing? -.- Thanks... -RavveN-
CommanderCrazy
Flick the power off at the supply, remove the cable, and store it somewhere hard to reach. Thats what i did when i needed to study, and it worked to a degree.

Vagrant0
Best thing... Get commitments that are outside the home, or atleast something that you aren't using the computer for. Off hand, I would suggest looking into some of the clubs at your highschool. Almost every highschool has atleast one club which is not sports related, but is involved with making signs, posters, and having students help out at various school events. If I had to do it all over again, I would have joined that one before senior year just because it forces you to be social and active. Other than that, don't try to give it up all at once, but set realistic goals as you transition. For example, instead of quitting gaming entirely, do it only after homework is done as a reward for doing homework. While this means that you'll only be playing for a few hours between dinner and bedtime, you can eventually just transition away from games to social things... IE social things before homework on lighter days, then homework, then gaming. Oh, but the key... You gotta really just stick with it, not because it's some notion you're entertaining, but because you NEED to stick with it. Also, if you're in any MMO guilds, seriously, leave. Don't do one of those "I'm giving away all my stuff things, or start a fight with members... Just explain that you have to focus on life, and mention that if the people in the guild are any friends at all, they won't take you back in. People just download them illegally or go to a website that streams them to watch on their computer during downtimes. You're also kinda just replacing one evil for another one. Heroine is not a cure for a Crack addiction. The goal is to be out and about and productive and not wasting hours of the day staring at a screen. All that aside, watching TV is actually a worse behavior than gaming. Watching TV is not active engagement of the brain, no matter how well written the series is. Gaming on the otherhand is an active requiring focus, coordination, reaction, and usually a fair amount of planning. From a brain health standpoint, depending on the games, gaming can make you smarter. The problem is really re-applying all those skills that gaming has helped you develop and trying not to lose sight of real things which are more important than your 15th raid of a boss with your clan so that Jimmy the Brave might get one of his tokens for that class armor.
