edconn
I am in a bit of a jam, and I am hoping some of you fine texture artists will help me out. The Windfall mod has been in progress for an extended time and considerable work has been. Unfortuantely I a have lost contact with our texture artist some time ago. This is the one area of making a mod that I can't do personally. I have neither the tools nor the talent to do the work properly. If you are willing to do some retexturing for this mod, please contact me. You can PM me here (edconn), or via email ([email protected]). Or just post a reply and I will contact you. Any help will be appreciated. Ed
edconn
You check out the mod at our web site - Windfall The site is a little out of date, but it has screen shots and info about the mod. In Short: "Windfall is a story-driven mod. The mod will feature over 40 quests spread across multiple storylines. A host of new content is being added including new armor sets, new dungeons and new factions vying for dominance in a new city. South of Anvil sits Windfall Island. The once prosperous city of Windfall is ruled by the Varo Family, who settled there after being pushed out of the Cyrodiil – Hammerfell border when Tiber Septim consolidated his control of Cyrodiil. Upon the death of the beloved Count Alconis, the family and city fell upon hard times. The Count’s eldest son, Brend Varo, is a leader of questionable competence. The Count’s other son, Stilus, has been banished from the island. Brend’s arrogance has sparked a rebellion in Windfall’s Slums. The city’s thriving trade port and prosperous mines have been virtually shut down due to the problems originating from the slums. Only the arrival of a detachment from the Imperial Legion has kept the situation from deteriorating into a complete bloodbath. Despite the Legion’s presence each side continues to look for ways to gain the upper hand and solidify its control of Windfall. Will you help the rightful ruler, Brend Varo, put down the rebellion and restore peace to the City? Or will you help the peasants overthrow the oppressive ruler and liberate the city? The choice is yours. And what of the rest of the island and its inhabitants? Do they care, are there outside forces involved in Windfall’s problems, or do they have their own problems to deal with? The Varo’s are relative newcomers to the island. Is there a reason they never expanded influence over the entire island?" Background: Acretia was the love of both Brend and Stilus Varo. As two young dogs they followed her around wherever she went in Varo Manor. The two brothers tried to impress her as best as they could. Brend being the oldest and the strongest, tried to impress her by telling and re-enacting the knightly stories the bards told at dinner. Acretia enjoyed his attention as he was indeed the young and courteous knight from the stories. Stilus, being less then noble, took her out to town, amusing her with tales of the commoners lives and squabbles. While the brothers took turns at amusing her, Acretia, Stilus and Brend grew up. Partially fearing that accidents might happen and seeing an opportunity to restore the family fortune, Count Alconius Varo decided to put an end to it all. He arranged a marriage between Acretia and Brend. Soon after the wedding, Acretia started to miss the adventurous Stilus and she seeked him out when Brend wasn’t around. Stilus however, was less amused by her appearance, he didn’t want to have anything to do with his brothers wife. Feeling insulted by his rejection she told Brend that Stilus had assaulted her. In his rage Brend assembled several friends and plotted against his brother. The plot failed miserably. Stilus, having worked himself up in the local politics, had gotten notice and was prepared. His counter attack was an equal disaster, yet Brends friends enraged by such brutality, decided to seek Stilus out in the slums. They were caught by surprise, but the advantage of a lifetime of proper training and practice turns the tide soon after the fight started. What had started as a simple hit and run became a bloodbath. Count Alconius Varo, no longer able to ignore the strife between the brothers, decided to remove the apparent cause of all problems and exiled Stilus. When Count Varo died, Brend followed him up as rightful leader. Soon after problems stared to occur in the slums. Guards stopped their night patrols out of fear. Criminals started to show up in the area. An unknown figure then put an end to the crime in the slums, the people loved him for this. The crime didn’t stop though, the crime now focused on economical targets. Current needs: Texture Artist - As stated earlier, I really need someone to do some items for me. If you are willing to do some retexturing to help me out of a jam, even if you don't want to join the team or make a long term commitment, please contact me. There are a few items such as the shop signs, that I just can't work around and need someone to make these for me. Writer: - This is kind of two fold. I would like someone who is willing to write some letters, notes, maybe some short stories, to help add realism to the background, history, and events taking place. In addition there will be a ton of dialog to help with. The mod has over 200 NPCs. With that many, I think the dialog would be better if it were done by more than one person. The mod is farther along than the web sites progress page looks, especially the decorating. I usually keep the progress page to what is completed. Most of the areas that need decorating are in their final stages, just not quite completed. With a little luck, and some help, I hope to be in Beta by late spring, with a release sometime in the summer. As long as I am begging for help, if someone would like to help me update our web site that would helpful as well. Ed
TheTerminator2004
So, you're still working on this, eh? Glad to hear it... I seem to remember you making a thread about this some time ago, it looked like a very promising project. :) I'd offer to help, but unfortunately, I'm no good at texturing, so I wouldn't be of much use. I hope someone else can though! :)
edconn
Yes, I am still at it. I knew this would be long one when I started it. I hope to have out in '08. But I am committed to the quality. No sense in putting in this much time just to do it half way. Thanks for the encouragement. Ed
