Problems with launching XCOM 2 Editor

Hey all, so after the patch I have been unable to launch the XCOM 2 Editor from the ModBuddy to edit some textures. I was wondering if anyone got any idea what could be wrong, or could paste me a working error log so I can compare..

So I get the splash screen where it loads different stuff and then it just closes after "Loading objects referenced by: FoliageBrushSphereMaterial" and the editor doesn't open.

Stuff I have tried to fix this are:

1. Check SDK file integrity

2. Reboot computer.

3. Remove SDK and download it again

4. Remove Mod folder from XCOM 2 SDK\XComGame\Mods

5. Remove shader cache.upk from XCOM 2 SDK\XComGame\Mods\xxxx\Content

6. rebuild the mod, load a different mod or try to launch the editor without any mods loaded in the modbuddy.

7. Update graphics driver (desperation move)

All this for absolutely no effect whatsoever. I still get the exactly same behaviour than before.

The log file I'm looking for is in Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2 SDK\XComGame\Logs\Launch.log

my log is http://pastebin.com/tNEUm9qw

There are many errors but I'm guessing everyone else has those errors as well, as the SDK seems to be generating a lot of garbage errors no mattter what you do with it, but I would love to compare.

Any other tips are welcome as well.

I'm having the exact same problem, i also already tried all of the above and everything i could think of. Nothing will fix it, and every single time i verify tool cache it says 38 files failed to validate, it downloads them, nothing changes when i try and launch the editor and then i wants to redownload the same 38 files again.

Here's my log file

I can't edit my post for some reason, but i found out that these are the 38 files that fail to validate:

When i launch the editor, it updates those 38 configs and then immediately closes. And for some reason those 38 files always fail to validate after the editor has changed them. I also found this guy seems to have had a similar problem back in February:

Where his log file ended up at the "dumping table" part, but unfortunately he doesn't say if he ever solved his problem.

I'm having the same issue since the latest DLC/Patch. It also crashes on FoliageBrushSphereMaterial. I can't seem to find a way to fix it either.

As a side note, have you tried debuging (f5) a mod with the mod tools?

When I try testing a mod I get a Steam error message "application load error V:0000065432"... I wonder if these problems are related or totally separate.

That's interesting, i had that problem before, the "error V:0000065432" thing when trying to debug. But, when i had that error i could still open the Xcom2 Editor, and to fix the error i verified the integrity of both the tool cache and the game cache, and for some reason the game downloaded like 40gb of files. That fixed the debugging problem, i debugged my mod and it worked fine, but i couldn't launch the Editor since then.

Now however, i tried to debug again before posting just to make sure it still worked, and it doesn't, i'm getting the "error V:0000065432" error again. I verified game cache again, and it told me 1 file failed to validate, which was the "defaultmodoptions" config in XCOM 2\XComGame\Config. But alas, i still get the error now.

Edit:

That said, you can still launch the debugger if you run modbuddy outside of Steam, the editor is just borked.

Edit2:

I ran verify tool cache again, this time it found 50+ missing files. 39 config files(went up by 1 for some reason), and 15 script files.

Editor still broken, debugging after launching through steam is still also broken. So, that did nothing and i'm out of ideas.

Yeah, I started to get that error after the update. Running the SDK as administrator seems to fix that. Doesn't fix the other issue however.

Oh, just in case, are you both running Windows 10 like I am? Just in case if that happens to have something to do with it.
