Ok, so I found a fix for the Editor not loading:
1. Find SteamApps\common\XCOM 2 SDK\XComGame\Config
2. Open "XcomEditorUserSettings.ini"
3. Change
[sourceControl]
Disabled=False
to
[sourceControl]
Disabled=True
..........And BINGO!
My Mod Package is not showing but atleast it opens now :D

I can get the editor to load with this fix, but how do I get my mod to load. I need to update a mod I already published.

So I just recently tried to get into modding xcom 2 and I'm having this same issue.

I've reinstalled all associated apps (as attempted above), and also tried this most recent fix with the "XcomEditorUserSettings.ini"

(Note: My ini did not have an entry for 'source control', but I added it regardless)

Still no dice, splash screen terminates after "foliagebrushspherematerial"

I'm at my wits end here, has there been another update that broke this again in the last month or so?

Followed this. Worked. Thank you. But is there any way to get it to open so our mod package opens too? Im still not able to open the editor without this fix. It just stops at the foliagebrush.

Hello,

i experienced these bugs since XCOM2 was launched, so i do not think this has something to do with the last patch...

What you can also try is:

1. that you open the XCOM Editor only as administrator.

2. After you made a successfull Build, go to yor project folder, where you have your mod files (not the files in the XCOM SDK folder, because these are the files created in, after your last build.) and delete your config files. Then start the editor and it should load with your packages and the other code. (Make a backup of your config files).

Hope this helps.
