paulmag
Hi I'm making a mod that is supposed to skip the charecter generation step and instead have the player start as a set character. (A dark elf ninja.) I have figured most of it out. When I start a new game with this mod now it DO say that I am a dark elf ninja, but of some reason the attributes and skills are not what they are supposed to be. All attributes are 30 and all skills are 5 (except hand-to-hand, which is 100). First when I go to the guy that makes the class and select the ninja-class there i get the correct attributes and skills, but then the point is gone because that was excactly what I wanted to skip! By studying the scripts I figured out it might have something to do with a script called "RaceCheck" wich was runned after the class-create guy. So I added that script in the very beginning instead, and it actually worked once, but then I changed something and can't figure out what I had done anymore. I even wrote "StartScript RaceCheck" in the console which I thought should fix it, but it doesn't. In my mod it seems the correct attributes and skills are not "activated", even though i DO actually start as the correct race and class  Well, that's the story, anyone know what to do? :thanks: PS: This mod is gonna be awesome when it's done  EDIT: One more thing, how do you change the starting gear? You always start with common shirt, pants and shoes. How can I make the player start with something else?
paulmag
I figuret both out myself! Seems there is an NPC called "player". This character is the one you start with. All changes that I want I can just do directly to this NPC. YEEY  You can really look forward to this awesoma mod guys! PS: Could anyone just post anything here just to make sure it was not hopeless of me to post here? This part of the forum seems quite dead. The last one to post here was in fact me, almost six months ago.
ninja_lord666
Morrowind? You're making a mod for Morrowind? I look forward to it. :) I just recently began playing Morrowind again. However, I'm almost past the part in the game where I can't fight anything without dieing, and it's quite difficult to get past that part. I'm not so sure I want to start over just yet... Anyways, yes the Morrowind forums are quite dead. Most everyone has moved onto Oblivon.
ninja_lord666
The thing is, though, that I'm playing a mage, so even now at level 15, my armour is still only 16, and my health is still only 101. Sure, if you play a fighter, it doesn't take long to get to that "immortal" stage, but if you pick a good class, then it's more difficult. Also, I agree that Morrowind is a much better game. You're confusing:This mod I'm making now is a TC...not really a part of the rest of the game. Are you saying it's a total conversion, or an extra quest? If it's a TC, give up. I'm not saying that to be mean. On the contrary, in fact, I'm saving you from certain disappointment. TCs are almost impossible to finish. In fact, I don't know of one that has. If you are making a TC, just give up. You should make a smell extra quest. That way you'll get it done, and people like me can play and enjoy it! :D
paulmag
Ah, you are playing as a mage, then I understand why it's harder. Yes thats certainly a much bigger challenge in teh beginning. About my mod: It IS a TC, but it's not like I'm trying to remake the entire gigantic game. It's a very small TC, which basically is just one quest. My will probably not have more than 15-20 different NPC IDs, and most of them are guards that you must get past. I am soon finished making the different types of guards now, but the map is probably going to consist of a forest, a dungeon, a village, and a castle. You start in a small shack in the forest and soon find out that the emperor of some reason have sent out assassins to kill you. The final goal will be to fight/sneak you way into the hearth of the castle and assassinate the emperor. At least that is the plan so far. For all the different locations I will probably copy already excisting locations and then do some changes on them just to save me some work. And here is something very special about this mod: You just have 1 HP! And there is no way to get more. The guards also have just 1 HP. Everyone will 1 hit eachother. So it's not at all like original Morrowind fighting that consist of standing face to face and beating eachother. You will really have to sneak up on the enemies and take them out carefully. If you get detected you will usually have to run away and hide again, or maybe use an invisibily spell. So what do you think of my plan? :P
ninja_lord666
Doesn't sound like a TC to me, but I'm not sure I fully understand what you're doing either. That one Health point thing s nice, it really emphasizes the stealth aspect. You just have to give the player the abilities to pull it off. If the sneak skill is too low, it'll literally be impossible.
