babis8142
Personally I'm not surprised to hear that consoles outsold pc's or that MW3 outsold Skyrim. I was expecting it. But still numbers are pretty high. And people are gonna keep buying it for a long time.

saldu
As for the ~300k number of steam people: You never ever have to touch steam again after installing skyrim, so all those people are not factored in there.

That stat is BS. Only represents Steam sales and more specifically PC version. I'll bet any amount of money that MW3 beats ESTEV in total copies sold across all platforms. Not a knock against Skyrim, but FPS is the most popular genere and CODMW is the best in that genre. babis8142
The numbers in Steam are probably not far from the truth. The majority of buyers are in developed countries that have good and relatively cheap Internet connections. I mean who counts Africa or Most Asia as a major buyer? I sure don't

I prefer RPG's, and Skyrim is the best of this genre, but the FPS genre is simply more popular and will sell more copies. I'm glad that PC sales have picked up since Oblivion; now we don't have to wonder if Bethesda will question the viability of releasing games for the PC. If Skyrim had sold only, for example, 5 million copies for the PC, Bethesda might decide that it's simply not a profitable platform. Fortunately, Skyrim brought the sales UP in percentage for computers. :)
Monglor
Comparing sales to CoD is a bit harsh. Skyrim is a massive reasonably hardcore RPG (in the sense that you're going to need to sink enough time into it to learn a foreign language if you want to get it properly completed). CoD is the annual close quarter FPS event, it's kind of an obligatory game for fans of that genre, who are very numerous. That Skyrim is even selling well is a great achievement for a game of its genre.
