Most effective way to slay a Dragon?

Dragon I was after yesterday landed close to some mammoths. Before I reached him, the mammoths had killed him. Of course, I'd weakened the poor beast for them.

Isamu I feel your pain. I play on Master difficulty where dragons are the only real threat.

Ever faced a Forsworn BriarHeart? Dragons can't one hit me and mages can't either with proper resist, but these guys can, and I'm playing on Adept only. At high level (38 currently), they're maxed out on Dual Wielding perks...and they are just....the hurt. Hardest hitting enemy so far for me and they run so fast, as if on PCP or something.

One hit and it's mostly all over.

Like that, little montage of my fight against this insane dude:

What i do (i play a paladin) is Dragonrend them to the ground, go up shield bash, then two-three slashes, then another shield bash. And keep repeating but when the dragon shout is ready to be used again, use it and start the process again. The key is to bring it to the ground and never lt it beable to attack you or fly away. I have 100 Block and 100 one hand, i think im at 80% effectiveness (or 4/5) with the one handed perk, i play on master and this technique works the best. If i need to I can back off and heal myself but usually i dont need to (or if needed open up favorites and use a potion.) Also have 100 Heavy Armor. :)

This is how i beat Auldin but i had to use a lot more potions then what i wanted. Also the Call Storm shout is a nice thing to use right before killing any dragon, but dont use it with auldin it seems to piss him off more then help you out!
